Peregrines? Why, is that part of your job or a hobby?? Sounds interesting....... tell us more please. I am always happy to hear about animals.

What do you mean about making a lot of folk happy?? That's a bit of a defeatist outlook, isn't it? Where did that come from? Where is the "sunny" bit then?? Sorry, I don't do negativity. Would still like to hear about the birds though please?

yes Alison its my job all year round train and hunt rooks crows and the larger gulls with the peregrines, April to September I put the birds in the aviaries to moult, so from April till usually end of June or mid July I’m birdless but by the end of June the youngsters are ready for training, the reason for putting the birds down to moult is because in the hunting season, the birds weight is cut down for the keenness for them to take on the large gulls n crows, because there natural diet is pigeon, so come April you have to fatten them up again for the new set of feathers to grow, and if your wondering how I earn money from hunting others species of birds, it is compulsory for landfill sites to have pest and bird control.

Thanks for that, Stu, sounds fascinating, what a fab job to have. Certainly beats being in a boring old office all bloody day!! How lovely to work with any animals, I would love it - truly!! You use the word "hunt/hunting" there, do you hunt these birds or is your work for the purposes of conservation??

And I wouldn't dream of wondering about someone's income and how they acquire it.

yes I use the birds for hunting if they don’t hunt I will get rid of them, a none hunting bird is no use to me, other species of birds especially the corvids which is the crow family very clever birds, know when a falcon means business and when it doesn’t, and the none hunters just attract 100s of other birds into a mocking frenzy.

So using the birds for hunting is your hobby and you make your living from pest control? Have I got it right?
What do the birds hunt and what do you do with their quarry??

And when you "get rid of a bird" by what means? You sell them on or what?

the birds hunt crows rooks and seagulls and the falcons are fed a portion of wot they catch, and any birds i get rid of are usualy swapped or sold for breeding projects
