Hello all!

I am not dutch. But I will be moving down to Delft in September and I would really like to have a head start with my dutch speaking skills and perhaps even having made some friends prior to my arrival.

Ik ben blij dat ik je ontmoetet.

I understand dutch pretty well I think, at least in written form, probably because I have studied german for several years. And I think that the flow of the dutch language is pretty much like Swedish.

Well, nice thread.

hi christina , mac

since you are all alone here thought to say hello...
what a coincidence...I went to school once in Hilversum
but now I live in Greece.

well christina I agree with you and so the first thing I did
when I came to Greece was to learn the language !
Whats the use living in (and loving)another country without even
bother to learn the language !

and mac good for you that you at least give it a try..
immagine you had to learn Greek ? frustrated

good luck

I thought you were Dutch as well, goes to show. Have you ever thought of going to language classes? It might help you know. Do you work with Dutch or English speaking people, this can make a big difference.

Yes Tinymac, you are completely right, Belgians do speak better Dutch than the Dutch (and I am allowed to say that since I have both nationalities banana )

I would love to give you Dutch lessons, only I live in France... Enjoy your stay in Hilversum, I used to live in Utrecht, a great place to live.
