Ok people.......

If you could be your own boss, what kind of business would you open and why?

I'd love to have (this is a mouthful)

A farm with a few animals, chickens, goats, horses, that would also be a B AND B. All the while having my little print shop set up in a corner of the house where I'd continue proof reading and graphic arts.

Think it would keep me busy?

I like working from home, love animals and having a couple of guest rooms would be fun, always get to meet new people.grin

Morning kid...

When I lived in Gibsons, I noticed that alot of the kitchens (restaurants and such) had seriously filthy canopys and fryers. The stink was sometimes more than you could bear. So I started looking into opening a busniess that would deal with the cleaning and degreasing of fans, filters, air ducts, fryers, and anything else associated with the cooking of grease. I even spoke to the woman that owned the local fish market, and since they sold a great deal of fish and chips and such, she agreed to allow me to go in and clean her place. The next day I recieved several compliments for the job I had done, and even got compliments from the surrounding businesses saying the air didn't stink first thing in the mornings after that. I thought I found a little gold mine, so I decided to give it a try, but I just couldn't find anyone that wanted their places done. They seem to have loved what I did for the fish market, just not enough for me to do their place as well..oh well, I tried

if you're referring to my "computer doodles" I do that only as a hobby, as for computers, I have worked on them (building, repairs, upgrades..etc) for nearly 15 years, but again, as a hobby..I work in a kitchen..keeper of the local tomain, and I love my job, but the computers are hobby only
cheers

I have been my own boss in the past... with 2 start up companies. As a single mother when my children were young, the risk became to great to ride the waves of feast or famine.

Now that my children are older, I am once again embarking on my own, starting a new contract at the beginning of September. I love what I do today and am really excited about the opportunity I am moving to shortly.

Ultimately, I would like to join an aid organization and provide project/program/portfolio management skills in recovering from world disasters such as the tsunamis. During that particular event, there was a call from almost every aid organization to coordinate everything from food collection and distribution to the re-establishment of telecommunications... I would imagine the same was needed after Katrina. My shortfall? I don't have international experience. I'm hoping that I will find my way to that end someday.

Ok I won't drive your car, and I'll even take your advice and hire a driver, I hear the cab drivers in Toronto know what they're doing
