Probably because everyone's definition of love is different. So you have to find someone you are physically attracted to who privides you your definition of love. Then you have to be physically attractive to them and provide them there definition of love to reach the storybook happily ever after. That's of course minus any bumps in the road. The other option is reach a compromise with yourself 
Easy to find, hard to keep.
I think it gets harder to find when we try sooooo hard to find it. Puttin the pressure on finding it (if that makes sense) makes it hard to find. We get caught up in what love feels like and how nice it is to have that one person we love and loves us that we forget how easy it was to find in the first place, sometimes its unexpected when we find it, and a lot of work to keep it.
Dont forget to love is to be loved and everything falls into place.

Then again, don't forget, sometimes if you are working too hard at finding love you miss something great that just so happens to be right next to you, in the line at the supermarket, in the cubical at work, sitting right across from you in a nice family italian restaraunt, even in the fast food restaraunt down the street. Just don't block it out of your sight and out of your heart when someone say's hi, and you may be amazed at what happens. I know I am.........

I think for most Love is not enough. One needs to meet the other conditions, You know, nice house, newer car, money, your standing in the comm. Things that you have that will make her feel important.
