A new man moved into the neighborhood while I was gone for two months. I soon learned that friends had been telling him about me and were waiting to line us up as soon as I returned. The first night I got home, they talked me into meeting them for dinner and then asked me to go out dancing with them afterwards. Of course, the new guy was my dance partner. We had a good time and I agreed to go out with him again. Since I was going to be in town anyway, I arranged to meet him at a restaurant where I was planning to meet friends. The friends showed, but he didn't, so we all went on to go dancing and I put it out of my mind, even though I was surprised, since he seemed anxious to date me. The next morning, my next door neighbors came over to tell me he had stood them up for breakfast as well. When they got the key from a neighbor and entered his house, they discovered that he had died of a heart attack the evening before--probably while getting ready to come meet me. No guy ever had a better excuse for standing up a date.
