NOW THIS IS AN ENGLISH GUY WHO HAS MOVED TO LIVE IN YOUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, SO FORGIVE ME WHEN I SAY, "WHY DO ALL YOU IRISH PEOPLE SWEAR SO MUCH", IT SEAMS THAT EVERY OTHER WORD IS AN F WORD, AND YOU USE IT AS A NATURAL PART OF YOUR VOCABULARY, WHY, AND I`VE GOT TO TELL YOU, I HATE IT WHEN WOMEN USE IT, SO COME ON, EDUCATE ME !!!

I think foul language is disgusting and rude, no need for it at all.

I heard an interesting answer to that very question. It because we dont speak irish/gaelic anymore. The irish language is much more expressive than the more reserved english. For example in English a person says "hello" but in Irish its "cead mile failte" (a houndred thousand welcomes).

I know it perfectly possible to be expressive and articulate without resorting to crude language but relativley speaking English is only the dominant language here in recient times and adopting it was an ENORMOUS step.

So apparently we are just compensating and behaving more in keeping with our temperment, thankfully :-) The last thing I'd want to be is a clone of another society
