I fished the OwenMor for years, somehow drifted out of fishing over the last few years, still love the water though. What has the fishing been like there over the last few years?

hi pthandshake
the fishing declined a lot in the last 10 yrs
some blame the drift netting
other say its agriculture is the cause

since the netting stopped
it has improved
there was a good run of springers ranging 10lbs+

we are expecting a big run of grilse
as im told the bay is full of them
waiting for water

i will know more in this next week coming

MMmmmm..... I am thinking about the feel of a fresh Grilse on a trout rod right now, just may dust off the fishing gear and head west for a weekend soon. There is nothing like stalking a fish on a river.thumbs up

Have always wanted to try a fly rod, it looks like it would take a certain amount of skill, including but not limited to an accurate throw, and draw back. How does it compare to a regular rod and reel?
