Hi all,

Just wondering if anybody knows of a group or anything slong that lines where I can meet a travel partner. I am dying to see the world, or most of it and it seems all my mates are either settled or afraid to take the big step... I'd be glad of any help

Cheers

Hi Big,

Well why dont you go on your own, thats what i did round Oz and NZ. You could book tours to meet people, there are loads travelling so youll never be alone, youd probably hook up with someone that way.

the lonelyplanet website / thorntree is good for finding a travel partner.

Personally i love travelling on my own as i can do what i want when i want, when i get tired of a place i move on, when i love a place i stay longer, and was never lonely as i met lots of like minded people.

If you dont want to be alone, book tours, then you only have the flight to do on your owndunno
I hope that helps

And dont laugh at this crazy hr im posting, i cant sleepcrying

Travelling alone is great. You never are alone. You will always meet people especially if you stay in hostels.

Yup, the hostels are dirt cheap and the best way of meeting people esp. your age. Also on the notice boards of every hostel they look for travel partners. Its alot easier than you think!grin

There is loads of Irish in all hostels. I was traveling alone in Eastern Europe. While in Budapest I was thrown into a room with 5 Irish women on my own (no complaints there!!!) Went out with them that night. The next night they were gone and the whole hostel went to a local pub. There were about 50 of us. I met another crowd there and a day or two later I went off on my way down to Zagreb. While in Zagreb (most boring city in the world) I was in a internet cafe and I heard some voices behind me that I thought I recognised. Some of the crowd from Budapest were there. It ended up that 6 of us went on to Dubrovnik and an island off the coast of Split and rented an apartment there. 3 of us missed the last bus across the island where we were supposed to meet the others so we jumped on a ferry back to mainland and got a 3am bus to Sarajevo.

That is just an example. In this world when traveling and staying in hostels you are never alone.
