We are a huge group of individuals and would like to start a Baby Boomers group for activities, interests, events, meeting other Baby Boomers who are seeking relationships -

I enjoy organizing/planning events and once this group starts to take off, will organize/plan private parties (in homes and/or different venues), get togethers, dances, BBQs, going/doing - local, state wide, or out of state...

TAMING THE WILD MONKEY

It can flash in seconds from my grocery list to a childhood friend to the itch on my nose to the putt I missed on the seventh hole. It can swing me from a cry to a laugh to a scowl. Oh! The fantasies it has shown me. It has also disgusted me.
I have a mind of my own. I'll change it any time I want. As a kid, I sometimes minded my mother. What's hard is to mind my own business. I do try to check every morning to make sure my head is on straight.
My mind certainly can't focus to orchestrate a Michael Jordan jump shot or a chess master’s concentration. I can't read minds, and am not one of those geniuses in Mensa. In fact, I'm not sure where my mind is or where it is going most the time. I make up my mind often. But sometimes I seem to go out of it.
Scientists say that our brain is our mind. We each have about a 3 pounds of pinkish-gray tissue in our skulls. It's got about 10 billion nerve cells sending out information all over our bodies. They say there are two sides to every brain - the logical and the intuitive. Mine ranges from the insensitive to the irrational. It seems that the idea is always better on the other side of the brain.
Our minds must have come from somewhere. Babies have brains, but they never mind. It's not until we conform to society that we are said to be in our "right mind."
I guess I've messed with my brain. My health food friends say I kill brain cells every time I drink a beer, and I am too old to grow any more. I wonder about those painkillers that soothe from head to toe. Besides, my Mom had Alzheimer's, and it's known to run in families.
So I decided that quality of brain cells is more important than quantity. I read more books and watch more PBS. I think maybe the cells will last longer the more intelligent they are. They'll learn how to survive.
I even went so far as to talk to a Zen Buddhist. She suggested that I sit, meditate, take all thoughts away, and have "No Mind." I thought "Wow! I could get into that. No more worries about bills or kids or the job." But the more I try to quiet the beast, the more the organ grinder plays. The chimp tickles my ear and whispers a million thoughts. I can't shut down the hard disk or even put it on standby.
Whose in control anyway? The recipe is simple. Schools, churches and parents are designed to set our minds in the proper direction. This is much the same way a pudding will set. Just follow directions.
Recently I took a trip to a high snow-covered peak to visit a hermit guru. I returned so enlightened that I've found the answer to every. . .
Oops! I forgot what I was going to say.
Oh, no! The monkey's getting away!

Hi Niki,

I think that's a great idea. I would love to see something like here in N. NJ, but it would take someone like you to organize it. Where would you go from here to get it started?

Hi Niki, I wish you lots of luck, in getting us Baby Boomers together. I know there's lots of the same age group living here in Spain but sadly, no get togethers.
