A Part of the Pacific War showing a General fighting a no win scenario, but has to hold in the name of his Emperor.
Even as a War movie, its also a dramatic movie. it shows the horrors of the second world war in a high real detail on how it was back in these Day's.
It is one that gets you the feel of being in the middle of all the action, and you share the experience first hand with General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (played by Ken Watanabe, from the last Samurai). It even made me feel deeply sad for what war can do to people, becoming part of it all.
a true masterpeace in the war and drama department from Clint Eastwood.
the 2 Disc special edition also has the American point of view of the same action in Flags of Our Fathers. giving the viewer a feel that a Enemy sometimes is someone to respect as well as the ones who claim victory.
