discovered these guys while searching for songs for my playlist. this Minneapolis Minnesota band is not to be confused with another band by the same name from Massachusetts. i love bands that include horns. they add atmosphere, complexity, density, richness, or whatever you want to call it, to the music. my all-time favourite bands are southside johnny & the Asbury juke and van Morrison (of course), which are very similar in makeup. the Belfast cowyboys started as a van Morrison cover band. listening to their versions not only sound faithful to van's music but, at times, the lead singer actually sounds like a young van the man (more apparent on studio versions rather than live, at least to my old ears). eventually, the band branched out to include its own music. still, their music has a van the Morrison feel. there's a trimmed down version, known as st Domenic's trio, that performs live every Tuesday on facebook. check them out! hope to catch them live, one day....oh.....btw.....i want to see the northern lights, too.....aurora borealis sightings are increasing as the solar max approaches....
