When Dave Mustaine was fired from the biggest Heavy Metal band ever, I'm pretty sure that the guys from Metallica never expected him to come up with a band that would be way more badass, more energic, more thrash, and also a lot more melodic. With Rust In Peace, Megadeth showed that they were definitely better than Metallica at being Metal. With Dave Mustaine's raging solos going all over the place and the general crazyness of the album, Megadeth finished what they had begun with Peace Sells, and became one of the best Thrash Metal bands. Listening to the album, it's no surprise that the band is now part of the famous Big Four of Thrash Metal (composed of none other than Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax), as they are both huge and very inspirational.

Megadeth sounds way better than Metallica to me. BTW, Rust In Peace is probably their best album, together with Countdown To Extinction. =)head banger
