These melodies and songs have survived in some library deposits, and in some popular versions in Southern Italy. The performers have done an exquisite work to render the magics of the "Tarantella", which is not the folkloristic rhythm badly played for tourists in "Italian" restaurants, but a popular dance with infinite variations, some of which have been elaborated by these late Renaissance composers.
