You mentioned that you felt you didn't need the medication but you are not medically qualified, are you?

His attitude is something that may need to be addressed. Surely, you are entitled to a second opinion or to change doctor, aren't you?

I don't think there are many doctors who start out with a hidden agenda or a jaded perspective, its something that develops over time for all the obvious reasons. And the pharmaceutical companies are immensely powerful, more than we know. That combined with the internal politics of the medical profession often means that individual doctors' hands are tied and simply cannot work in the way they would wish, I'm afraid.
