I have talked to the very few who have IMed me, its just last night I was IMed and I was wrecked and only exchanged a few pleasantries and closed the IM, The IM opened again and I was called an a**hole
Well one time i got a guy that imd me, which i do like but he wasnt my type in the looks department, but i said hiya, had bit of conversation with him and then i said goodbye,
so my im has been turned off ever since.

To me, you can compare IM perfectly with real life, in both scenarios you don't know who is in the other side, you can imagine that is some scammer at the other side, but if you're in a pub/club and someone comes to you and start to talk, it could be also a scammer, you can't be sure you're gonna be safe talking with someone just because you can see his/her face.
So, in both sides, at first sight, you need to follow your intuition or something, in real life you can see how she/he react, how look at you or things like that, in IM you can follow the way of the conversation, the kind of answers, how quickly they are, I don't know.
In my personal point of view, I'm not David Beckham but I know I have some good points, so, I give everyone the same opportunity to introduce themselves, I know we have the right to choose the best for us and some of us just follow their impression by the pictures they see, but pictures and people are like drink: you can see a good bottle, but at the end you enjoy the drink, the bottle finnish at the trash.
So, yes, if someone appears here trying to chat trough IM, I gonna try to meet that person, in the next 10 minutes I gonna choose if she deserves or not :) but I don't close any IM window...
