The function of life is to replicate itself. This is not a concious action, just that the design of a living thing is such that if it is to continue living, it will replicate itself over time.
The purpose of life depends on who and how we define purpose.
I could define the purpose of life as to make people happy. Others could define the purpose of life is to serve a God. My mother made her purpose in life to look after her children.
All are correct depending upon who makes the definition.
We all must find our own purpose, or accept someone else's or possibly accept there is no purpose and just cruise along until life ends.
