Venting About Online Encounter

It's not nonwhite - you missed the point in that you could have lived in an Asian neighborhood, a white neighborhood, a Hispanic one or a black one and you would still see lazy people sitting on their porch getting high. And nonetheless there are still very successful people within every ethnic background. One is equal to the other.

About sitting on the porch getting wasted, couldn't just about anybody do that?

Venting About Online Encounter

Johnnyboy, I am being open minded here - What kind of slurs do you hear? I am curious. I just stated in an email that I only hear Eddie Murphy, Cedric the Entertainer make jokes about EVERYBODY...like George Carlin, Gallagher, Billy Crystal and Robin Williams. Amongst my friends of all backgrounds, we made fun of each other as friends...nothing hateful or hurtful. I have not personally heard an ordinary person just spouting off. So, what have you heard in general?

Please understand, I lived a very sheltered life in a well-to-do family and I am book smart, not street smart. Example: Things people say that I would be to embarrassed to think about is online!! OMG! Then my next thought - PEOPLE SAY THAT? THINK THAT??? THAT EXISTS??? Where have I been for 38 years?? So..share.

Venting About Online Encounter

Another comment - When I said THINK...here is what I mean - Everyone puts their pants one leg at a time, we all bleed the same and we have the same basic needs in life. Society has come a long way, but has distance to travel. Instead of putting folks down, demonstrating cruelty and hatred, why not walk in their shoes for a moment?

Since I am female, I will walk in an African-American's shoes for a moment. She can go around the corner and see 5 beauty salons - but no one in there that understands her hair, what it needs, how to put in a weave or braids. Yikes! Talk about having to do some searching here! Take it further. Utah, a state I just left, they don't have many African-American families throughout the state. It's mostly Hispanic and Caucasian throughout the state - few black families in Salt Lake per capita. Small town living would be great - but think of the commute required to find a hairdresser!! But a Caucasian could easily round up a dozen to choose from. What if a black woman has 4 kids at home, is paying a sitter, and forced to drive 200 miles round trip to get her hair done? Think of the cost of child care, gas in the car, lunch, housework when she gets home, dinner to cook, grocery shopping still needing to be done, and what if on all that, she has a full time job too?

My example demonstrates that everyone has their issues, difficulties. Why compound that with online ugliness? Instead of hateful words, why not extend a helping hand? Before speaking/typing, walk in their shoes fora bit...maybe then we can all be more understanding, loving, caring and helpful to each other. Hope for humanity! Two words as my recommendation to all - BE NICE! grin

RE: Mr.date

Through the years, I have done pretty much what you have. Rich men, great cars, good food, etc. They aren't right for me. What's missing? Happiness, high self-esteem/confidence, and the ability to love self on their part. Money buys THINGS - not THINGs that count. The men try to buy women to camouflage their inadequacies - low self-esteem, unhappiness, loneliness, etc. To find one worth keeping, you have to look into their personality/attributes instead of 401K, stock portfolio and checkbook balance. Believe me! Through many years of trial and error myself, I learned this.
