Yeah right, and then again, no, not really.....Christmas is a pretty precise Christian celebration that covers Christmas Evening (24th) and Christmas Day(25th) As much "Christmas -extensions" like boxing day(26th), may add precious bonding time that still feels somewhat " Xmas-isch", its as much Christmas as the day after your birthday is still your birthday. Bottom line, NBC´s reporting on this topic was factually fully accurate: Trump did not visit his troops during Christmas time. and given Trumps known stand on the subject ( he doesn't see the necessity/benefit of visiting US troops abroad), one could argue about the reasons that triggered his decision to go after all.....His conscience? (unlikely) or critic articles like the NBC one your refer to? (Given the size of his ego that would be much more likely)
Can a President overrule the Constitution with a strike of his pen.....
Trump seems to be believe yes, and willing to see if he can get away with it. If he does it is very likely to become a major source of trouble on the long run. I mean, Presidents will continue to come and go, but this precedent of a "Presidential strike of the pen" stopping Constitutional Rights would remain, and passed on to future Presidents. I am certain that many of those who loudly cheer this particular idea would explode when a future president would intend to, for example, sideline their Constitutional Gun Rights by another "Presidential strike of a pen".
One can agree or disagree with the need of these Constitutional changes, to avoid deepening division your country is already in, it seems wiser to make such changes through the proper Congers/Senate channels instead of an unilaterally decided Executive Order.
RE: NBC Reports Trump Is First President Since 2002 Not To Visit Troops At Christmastime. Wrong.
