Thank you so much. I do agree, and I have come to realise in the past couple of years, that it is soo much better to be single than in a bad relationship. I actually have grown and learned a lot in the past couple of years through being a single person after a 17 year marriage. And I will not settle for less than I deserve.
Oh, I consider myself past it, no way! Its just that, (you would have to have kids to understand this)while they have school (I am at work during these hours, not running around meeting new people having fun)and they have sleepovers at friends occasionally, its still difficult to establish a new relationship. You cant have a string of new fellas coming into the house when you have a child to consider and what impression the child gets. So it takes a while to get to get to know someone "at a distance" before you reach that stage. And therein lies the problem, but I know its not impossible, I do know there's nothing to stop me having a man in my life, but I dont just want any man and it takes more time and effort with a child to consider. Thank you for your advice
Well, if it makes you feel better, just remember you are ten years younger than me, so it could be worse! Seriously, though , I am over that now, I dont feel as pessimistic as I did when started this thread. If you want to chat, you know what to do
I've been away from here since I started this thread and I came back to take a look and, well, I am struck by how nice people here are so thank you all very very much. I am feeling better now, I was feeling particularly low when I started and I suppose I just wanted to express my feelings and see what feedback I got. I am pleasantly suprised, it makes me feel better to know that people can relate to how I feel.
I know what you mean. Oh and as for the Irish guys, well you know what they, the grass is always greener on the other side! I cant find one I want here, the americans look good though!
I find myself at a stage in my life when I fear that I will be left alone. I am over 50 years of age and bringing up a adolescent. All is going well as far as that is concerned, but at the expense of my own life. I have a full time job, get by ok, but just about. My free time is precious. I wonder if and how I could possibly meet anyone. I find that most people my age are finished bringing up there kids and have plenty of time to enjoy themselves, I still have to always consider my child, who is still too young to be left alone. What man in my age range would be interested in getting involved in this situation? When my marriage ended some years ago I didnt want to bring another person into our lives to complicate things. So even though I occasionally went on dates , I never introduced a new man to my child. But now I realise, that my life is passing by and it might be too late. By the time my child leaves home, it'll be pension time for me!
