I have a farm with a difficult farm track so I bought a second hand Ssangyong korando (mercedes engine) Great power, it could climb a wall! But all sorts of problems from head gasket going to starter motor etc, was forever calling the breakdown lorry while my other car, an ancient Renault 5 with the door falling off and loads of Ks on the clock, hasn't let me down yet.
