Well to the people who are interested to find the truth i would like to actually READ a serious book about these issues...
I would like to propose one that i recently read called: Why people believe weird things (2nd Edition) by the editor of the Sceptic magazine Michael Shermer.
Yes.....I searched that...I searched the historical evolution of the theory...I realized that Huckel made some crude calcuations based on some simplified molecular orbiatl theory...That's the ways that empirical formula 4n+2 formula was extracted (or somehinh similar). Rigorous quantum mechanical calculations show that the meaning of "aromatic" is vague....I found recently that they invented some molecular descriptors to judge wether a molecule is aromatic or not. One such a descriptor is the dipole polarizability of the molecule...
OK...We will laugh!!! My supervisors favorite question on the exams is to explain the aromaticity of some organic molecules based on huckel theory. So he loves to emphasize that molecules are not aromatic because Huckels law 4n+2 exists but the rule exists because they are aromatic!!! But 50% of the students that take the exams write that the molecule is aromatic because the rule 4n+2 applies!!!LOL!
So Funguy i need your attention on something....It's a question 90% of Chemists never understand...And i would like to hear your opinion...And improve your mood a bit!!! From the packing i mean!!
And the most important part is that i will have the chance to see some friends that live there and i can't see them often...I really miss them/!!!!!!!!!
