Its almost Summer and holiday talk has begun ...I love a fun holiday with some laid back time and some fun days at the water parks , shopping etc ...sadly my friends are beach goers and like to spend the whole holiday stuck to sand ...
Anyone here in the same boat ? ...if so drop a line if interested in a sun holiday , dates flexible and so is the place I love a good girly holiday .
slight problem , my qualification is not recognized in Oz , so i can either forget about it or do a one year part time course , this means holding back Oz until next year .....this course is almost 3 grand ...so im not sure and the course starts in April.
I have decided that i will go for it , my co worker who moved there a year ago came home to visit last week and could not rave enough about it, she was dying to come home !
I will just look at it as a saving plan , go over work for a year or two and come home a little more financially secure ( hopefully )
Thank you all for your advice ,so nice to hear your own experiences from travelling and living in Australia .
A few reasons i am reluctant at the moment .
None of my friends are in a position to go , they are either in relationships or just dont have the money or want to go so really i would either be going alone or perhaps might meet a travek buddy online but i would not know that person well.
Being realistic thee would be no point going for just one year , with all the cost involved and the fact i am leaving a job the chances of me working and saving in one year doesnt seem realistic .
I suppose if one of my friends was coming with me i would feel different , the thoughts of going alone and being alone over there is a scary one .
I am in two minds to be honest , there is a huge part of me that wants to apply for the one year working visa and head out there and see what it is like ...
And there there is another part that talks me out of it !
Has anyone here been over there working ? Is anyone planning on going in the future ? ...i work in childcare and i know from a co worker that is now out there , she is foing great !
I am 25 in May and dont want to keep procrastinating about it ....
Your experience would be welcome of you have the time
I think there was a piece on Vincent Brown last week about middle class food poverty or something of the like . One mother said she took the food from the cupboard and put it in the fridge so the children would think they had more food then they really had .
Practical solutions , things like filling kids up on healthy foods in the morning ( porraige and readybrek are cheap in Aldi ) buying more filling fruits like bananas .
Having some meat free nights , freezing foods ,making filling soups if you own a blender and again freeze that .
Cut out snaks like crisps and biscuits that have no real nutrition and buy more carb based snacks like crackers or scones again quite filling.
See if there is any way of making cut backs on some bills and expenses like your phone or internet or buy clothes second hand to save some extra money for food , buy in bulk if you can what is on sale and freeze it , make a food plan each week and stick to it .
You can also save on things like fizzy drinks and juice , water is free and much better for everyone . Cut out takeaways if you buy them for a while at least .
Have a rule that the kids dont take things out if the cupboard or fridge without asking first .
I was taken to the cinema last year to watch a horror movie ...Quarintine or something ...basically people isolated in a building because they contracted some dog disease and would end up killing each other .....i hid behind my coat the whole time with him whispering a million timkes " im sorry " ...ah well good memories i guess .
Best date was driving around the whole Island of Malta in one day visiting all the attractions ....
I was up at 3am trying to find a crying kitten , i did find her but she is wild so she ran away , she is tiny ...pity i wish she had a bit of food at least.
Have been for a walk to the lake was packed ! Meeting friends for lunch later ...maybe go for a drink , that it really .
Travel buddy
Have a brilliant time Molly !
