I am in a similar situation as you are in..
Only my friend he is addicted to cocaine..
He is loosing everything he own and right now has nothing but a room in a hotel..
He lost a few friends and family due to his addiction..
Right now as I speak to you, I stay in touch with him everyday..
I talk to him about his addiction and he feels he has no addiction and he can quit when he wants..
But deep down I know he will not be able to quit on his own..
It will be very difficult for him to quit alone..
So what I do (as I said earlier), I keep in touch with him everyday to see how he is doing..
I let him know I am there for him when he is in need..
Poeple say I help him to much by bringing him cigarettes and food..
But I cannot let him starve himself as well to keep him suffering and to allow him to be more sick than what he is..
All I can say is just be there for your friend when he/she needs you to be there for them..
You will be the first person your friend will turn to and be greatful for having you in his life..
JUST REMEMBER!!
You can't help him to quit his addiction..
He has to help himself with his addiction, he will know when the time comes for him, even if it is to late.
Just being there for your friend is helpful enough, even though it is very hard for you to watch and see what this person is doing to him/her self.
Your friend knows you care deeply about him/her.
Even though they don't tell you or show you..
JUST BE THERE FOR YOUR FRIEND.. EVEN IF IT HURTS YOU..
I KNOW THIS WILL NOT BE EASY, BECAUSE IT IS NOT EASY FOR ME..
REMEMBERING OUR FRIENDS FOR LIFE WILL BE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!!
