There are military ACADEMIES that some parents send their children to, but most will not accept bad actors. You are right that academies are stricter than regular colleges though. Years ago, it was standard for judges in juvenile delinquent trials to offer the offenders a choice between jail or the Army, but not any more. The military is all volunteer and doesn't want to deal with a bad attitude. I'm sure some people do sign up just to get a job, but they are in the minority. I hope all is well with you too!
Hello Amahlala, I hope that they come home safely to you and your's and thank them for their service! I posted the article because of the well worn canard by some that "only" the "poor" serve in the military. The stat.'s don't bear this out. The military has some of the sharpest people in the country.
Well, gang, the Mod's contacted me about this thread saying that certain people needed to be banned. I will, in fairness to the mentally challenged in Lake Tahoe, add a comment to whatever I post. God knows, it's SO hard to click on a thread and READ as opposed to having things EXPLAINED to you....
"We" don't have a "working class". The majority of our military hails from the South and many are white males as it's a tradition to serve. Unlike other regions of the U.S., where serving is seen as a colonialist, oppressive, jingoistic, cannon-fodder like job.
That's an interesting statement worryworry. I posted the piece as it's an article of faith among some in the U.S. that only the poor serve in the military, when in fact, many are well educated and from the middle to upper "classes". How are you today?
I had no idea that grey squirrels were so aggressive towards your native species. Whoever brought those things over should have to catch them all. I thin it was someone who wanted to hunt them? Some months ago, I read there was an attempt to get rid of them. Good Luck!
Yes, the anti-vaccination crowd is a problem, but here in the U.S., almost all of the communicable diseases are found in the illegal immigrant community.
I have come across some OP's threads which sicken me in terms of their content, and I pass them by. I'm not looking for an argument, but a debate. PatMac seems to be seeking the former by staying on the thread and constantly repeating himself. He is free to do so, but wouldn't it be easier to just have one's say and then leave? I imagine everyone on here has come across a subject they find objectionable but they don't necessarily get PERSONAL about it.

Very nice.
