The problem is we are spoiled and don't want to live within our means. The Social Security and Medicare liabilities we have left to our children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren run into the TENS of TRILLIONS of dollars. In the future, there will be no money for roads, or bridges, or schools. Social Security and Medicare will consume virtually our entire budget. And every year we avoid fixing it just makes it that much worse. It's not going to be pretty.
