I think the greatest moments in my life were being watching my children being born. Both girls! I even got to cut the cord.
I have a hard time too, with deadbeat dads, but I guess not everyone is cut out to be a parent! I would also like to add that I have 4 step children that I love just as much as my own 2 girls. Even though their moms and I are no longer together.
I guess what I am saying is 'Hang in there, there are guys out there that are willing and happy to be step parents. I know that I'm one!!'
Just to put a little perspective on it. I am a single dad with a daughter and I deal with the same, only a little reversed. Her mom hasn't seen her since July. She works only 5 or 6 blocks away, lives in the same town. Good luck and hang in there.
I have 4 step kids and believe me its not always easy. Just remember 1 thing, your not their DAD! and you can't replace him. Be yourself, I have found out that the kids enjoy having 2 Dads. It can also be something to be proud of!!
I thought it was ok when I did it. Now, ten years later and after our marriage didn't work, there are 4 unhappy children that have to deal with the aftermath. We even lived together for 3 years before we got married. I believe it depends on the two people and whether they communicate well and don't hide things from their past.
RE: Feeling kind of bummed out!
You'll bowl a 300 in your childrens eyes!! Dragon is right on here, just be the best mom and dad they've ever had!! You'll be the winner in the end!!
