As a heavily tattoed perspective, I personally think its beneficial that i can hide my sleeves. It may not change who you are as a person to have that piece, but people will easily judge you based on that alone. I only know from personal experience.
I am respected by most of the doctors I work with and after two of them saw me outside of work (tattoos visable) both changed thier demeanor towards me in our proffesional setting.
