RE: What do you do when....

Aha, but here is the problem with the fight theory, and it's a common film element. The guy who loses the fight, especially if he gets beat really bad, is usually the automatic winner of the girl. Because the winner becomes somehow bullying and quick tempered, even if he didn't really initiate the fight.

Not saying it's right, just saying it is.

RE: Leaving your body

For the record, I do believe that astral projection is something that could exist. Having never experienced it, I won't say it does or doesn't, however...

That happens to me constantly when I forget to put my CPAP mask on. It happens because I stopped breathing and I woke up as a result. That's what sleep apnea is all about. In fact, if I don't put on my mask, it happens on average of every two minutes. It actually happens to everyone on a limited basis, but for those of us with a sleep disorder it's so pervasive it makes it impossible to get actual rest.

Just thought I'd point out there is a scientific rationale for this one.

RE: God...fact or fiction?

I'd be very curious to see the specific references to which you point. Because I don't recall much precision in any such revelations, unless you genuinely think there will be trumpets and dudes on horses.

Know what else...

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.

So why exactly are there prophecies in the bible? In fact, why is divination used by so many in the bible, and even used to interpret the will of god?

RE: God...fact or fiction?

Yes, I have the thread, and I even read through her particular posts to see if she made some reference to a sadness over her decision to leave christianity behind in favor of something else. And no where did I see any such statement. I saw, what appeared to me, to be presumptions that she was sad or lost, but nothing to support them. Please, feel free to enlighten me if I missed something. I am always willing to acknowledge a misinterpretation of facts based on lack of evidence.

RE: What do you do when....

Because men aren't usually willing to get a king size bed and each sleep on one side of you?

However, if they were, that would make life very interesting. cheers

RE: What do you do when....

They are also stupid. Love isn't a rule in Outlook that is set to stop processing more when you find what you are looking for. But usually, there isn't an equal balance (note I said usually). If you lost them both, which would be more painful. That's usually a good way to think about it.

RE: God...fact or fiction?

That is known as circular thinking. Creation proves god exists, creation leads to the creation of man, man writes of gods existence, and yet his existence is validation of god. That doesn't work.

If you read Nostradamus, you will find just as many revelations. His aren't necessarily true either, they are just vague enough imagery to be applied widely. They are also both scattered with self perpetuating prophecies.

I am happy you have faith to sustain you, but nothing you've said proves anything. Again, there is no proof, on either side of the question. There is only what different people believe.

RE: God...fact or fiction?

Omega, do you know what actually offends me? People who suggest that by not believing in the Judeo-Christian god you are somehow lacking in your life. That you are sad or misguided, or worse yet, that you don't have the ability to make decisions about right and wrong without it.

I am not sad for my lack of faith in your god. And I would not presume to know your state of being based on your lack of faith in my religious beliefs. Could you pay the same courtesy to everyone?

And fear and respect are not the same thing. God fearing never meant anything to do with respect. It refers to the old testament god, which was something to be feared, because he subjected people to tests that could easily be viewed as cruel. And because you are supposed to fear judgment by him, therefore follow his rules. If you love your faith, I have the utmost respect for that. But it doesn't make it any less disingenuous to suggest that god fearing has anything to do with respect.

RE: when hearts meet there language is silence

Bubbles, Shakespeare would weep. And they he'd probably throw a tomato at you. Have a good...

RE: cholate wrap........

You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.

Do you really want the blue pill Alice? Because if you take the blue pill, this banana stops dancing. grin

RE: words 2 live by !

The less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect.

RE: oneday must you realise with my gigags

You do know there's no such word as gigag, and that it's spelled gigabyte. And that gigabytes have no color...and for that matter, black isn't even actually a color. Dude seriously, I want some of your drugs! Are you walking through Trafalgar Square with Grape Ape right now? You must be having the best trip ever.

RE: cholate wrap........

Dogs barking; can't fly without umbrella. uh oh

RE: God...fact or fiction?

Irrelevant, they have been seen. They are seen regularly, by many many people. They are also seen during the day by hundreds of people regularly, through a telescope.

And in regards to the people who state that the book being a collection of other accounts confirming the existence of Jesus and his miracles. I'll bet you can track most mythology and find similar stories of accounts. It doesn't mean you believe in Zoroastrianism or the Olympians, does it?

The bible, whether anyone wants to acknowledge it or not, is written by human beings. I'm fairly certain even the bible defines them as fallible. Even if you believed these apostles were in the presence of the divine, you can't reasonably believe everything they said to be accurate or even true. Logically, the book itself argues against doing that.

I believe there are good and bad ideas. But anyone who thinks they KNOW what the answer is, and that applies to atheists as much as the faithful, are deluding themselves.

RE: lyrics of love

I think, in this case, we're going to have to go with coo coo.

RE: HOW DO YOU FINE A GOOD MAN?

Oh sweetie, that's wonderful. I hope he's an English teacher.wink

RE: is this as ridiculous as it sounds?

Maybe they could refuse to ever pay for the pill for women who do this. That'll teach em.

RE: my book of age million years.........

You know, I'm starting to think this is the artist formerly known as Prince. Kevin Smith said that he lives in his own little Prince world, where it's reasonable to request a llama at 3am in Minnesota. Suddenly I get what he meant.

RE: is this as ridiculous as it sounds?

Hell no! Not to be indelicate, but it was 4 times before it stopped being unpleasant. Might as well just request that the next 4 times I get busy I have my partner slap me really hard when it's over. At least that'll only sting for a few minutes.

RE: cholate wrap........

Ok, you live in the UK, so presumably English is your first language. I'm going to go with the theory on the other thread. What exactly are you smoking, and where can I get some?

RE: is this as ridiculous as it sounds?

This has to be the stupidest thing I've heard all year, even more than the women 'taking back' their virginity through some self help ritual. WTF is wrong with these women. First of all, if you really are worried about your husband thinking you're 'pure', all you have to do is say you used to ride horses a lot as a kid. Secondly, why in the hell would you want to lose it all over again?! Hello, was that all that pleasant the first time? Why not just ask to get chicken pox again. At least that was only itchy, and you got to stay home for a few days.

Women in this world need such a wake up call. It was never a flower, never a gift, and never a secret treasure. It was just another part of growing up. Do I wish my first was better, sure I do. But I also wish my 4th was better, not looking to recreate that either.

RE: How do you decide what score you rate a photo?

Have you cleaned your mirrors lately Zeloniy? I'm thinking you've got gunk built up on them. Or maybe you need to visit an ophthalmologist. wink Not suggesting you look like George Clooney or anything, but you're definitely cute.

RE: TGIF

barf

Your mind's not dirty, it's icky. Doing an ork would be nasty. Their all slimy and pale and just plain gross. Their the only creatures less attractive than a cave troll.

RE: Atlantis

Of course it exists. We have people living there now. It's just moved to a new planet in the Pegasus galaxy though, so your maps might be off.

wink Sorry, couldn't resist.

My general theory is that persistant myths are usually based, at least in part, on the truth. Whether they were the advanced race it's claimed, that's the more fanciful part I would be hesitant to believe.

Plato also had some interesting things to say about 'the one' btw. grin

RE: Tiring....

You're life sounds about as fulfilling as mine. If so, why bother giving up? Is it really not worth a little time each day to look? I don't care how discouraged I may get sometimes with emails that read nothing more than, "Hey baby." I've made a decision that I've done the alone thing for far too long. I might be able to exist just fine without someone, but I've decided that I want more than that. I don't need proof it works or not. Until I find something else, or rather someone else, to fill my time, I'm going to see who's out there.

Just my 2 cents.

RE: IF YOU WON A MILLION DALLARS

Great minds think alike Dina. banana

RE: IF YOU WON A MILLION DALLARS

Hmmm, I don't know about that. But I would buy you a green dress, but not a real green dress that's cruel. grin

RE: If you could have a romance with any fictional character, who would it be? and why ?

Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural. I could never choose between them, so we'll have to improvise. wink

RE: What was the sweetest gift you ever recieved from a boy/girl friend?

The only really great thing my ex ever did for me. He was at a junk store with some buddies, and he saw this very old looking pillar candle holder with these archaic sun sign like symbols around the edge. He said he saw it and knew I'd love it, and he was right. It was the best gift anyone ever gave me. I was pissed as hell when I realized it was lost in our house fire.

RE: Would you do

I tried that once. I kept picturing Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies and I had to stop over my case of the giggles.
