Its all a ruse! I came for the women, I stayed for the bird crushing poetry, the political banter and tips on how not to deal with being dumped by text message! I know what you're thinking, but if you pinch your nose and blow really hard............................you'll get a headache, afterwards, someone here will have tonnes of advice about headache cures.
Just introducing myself. I'm Peter and like everyone else here, I'm giving this a try. Hoping to meet some interesting people and expand my horizons. I'm from Tipperary but i've been living in dublin for the last 11 years. I dunno, just looking for a social outlet that doesn't involve a pub. Hope this is the right place!
The average house price in ireland is almost ten times the average industrial wage. For the last ten years, Bertie presided over an economy that has made millionaires of property developers and land owners, both sections of irish society that are the bigest contributors to fianna fail (google political donations and martin cullen!).
The mahon tribunal is a side show, its like arresting Al Capone for tax evasion. If he's guilty of anything, he's guilty of doing nothing. I'm sure he's a nice and personable guy but I think we're being blinded with stories of his personal failings. I think there are bigger questions and ones that he can only share responsibilty for.
On the other hand, I hear he has a tremendous singing voice!
He's a clever man, but the truth is, he's the forrest gump of irish politics. He became taoiseach at a time of unprecidented global wealth, courtesy of Mr. Greenspan. He presided over a property bubble, a global property bubble which is now bursting.
His involvement in the peace process was incidental. No Irish taoiseach would've had a choice but to follow Blair in pursuing an agreement in the North. Bruton had a problem talking with sinn fein and his rhetoric did cause republicans to walk away but if he had survived as taoiseach, he'd have done what Ahearn eventually did. The peace process was driven from westminster, not from dublin.
If we're bum shopping for corruption, he doesn't merit a wax work in the haughey hall of disgrace but if thats our bench mark then the problem may be less than one of political corruption and more one of electorate disinterest. Either measure seems an unrealistic means of judgement.
I think the only true means of judgement is the quality of his anoraks. Hands up...............he wore them well!
if you feel like its something you wouldn't do, then its not a good thing. ask for the money back.
If you have to ask here on this site then you already know the answer, its not right to borrow money like that and not pay it back.
On the up side, you won't make that mistake again. So you paid 100 euro for a lesson in friendship, believe me, you got a bargain. Write it off, wisdom is invaluable!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Do ya feed a flu and starve a cold or is it the other way round? And whats the number for Domino's pizza?
