RE: Is it financially viable

Dave,

This is a red rag to a bull here................

I can not believe that we the tax payers have had to bail out AngloIrish.

The banks have known since 2006 that we were heading for a recession, tho I think it is more like a depression, just look at the USA's depression in the 30's, there are a lot of similarities...............

Why not hit the millionaires in this country?!? THEY have the money!

And it was bankers who advised the Government to take the medical cards from the over 70's! Having said that, they picked the group with the most time on their hands! laugh And fair play to the over 70's who built this country, they went out and marched in their bus loads. I congratulate them, because it is a fact that by giving the over 70's a medical card, they are now a healthier group of people, as they do go to the doctor when they need too and not when their illness is chronic, therefore saving the state money!

I feel public servants & paye workers are being scape goated by the Government and unions for what IS the Governments BAD MANAGEMENT of our funds....................frustrated

Sorry folks, rant wasn't over!sigh

RE: Is it financially viable

Clo, who do you work for?

In Cork unemployment figures have soared since the summer and especially since Xmas. Our queues have increased by 70% approx.

I too pay a mortgage and I agree with you. Plus I am down childrens allowance now given my youngest is 19.

Jeez girl I could go on...........But won't.

It just pisses me off that I (& my colleagues) get a lot of bad publicity from the public when I work so hard. I am really good at my job and am very kind to the people who need to use our service.

I would like some fair play and a little kindness in return!

And Dave, maybe it's you I need to get off my chest!!

RE: Is it financially viable

I have avoided getting myself worked up about finances, but I feel like a rant this morning, so here goes..........

I work as a public servant, I work VERY hard in clinics paying people waiting for the Dept of social & family affairs to pay them their Job seekers benefit etc, this can often take them up to 4 months to pay. I can have a claim sorted within days!

This is only one side of my job.

I have worked 8:30am to 8:30pm WITHOUT getting paid over time or time in lieu. While I haven't worked this much over time in a while, (Because I decided not to any more!) I never get out of the office at 5 pm, when my working day is suppose to stop.

My rant is this...........I job share so I am on half salary, this is my own decision, because I don't think I could do my job as well if I worked full time, plus I like my time off. In December I did apply to go back for 4 days a week, but to date this has not happened.

My bugs are................

Staff either on maternity leave or long term sick leave are NOT replaced, hence putting a huge burden on those of us trying to meet the demands of our service. Which is growing given todays climate!

Before Christmas, I needed to go to the loo, as you do......and because of where I was working, the toilets were filty and I had to drive to my parent's home in order to relieve myself!

I needed to wait FOUR weeks for plastic folders for my clients files, post it's are a rare comodity!

I do not take a coffee break in the morning or the afternoons, and recently there was nearly a riot when at 1 o'clock I took a 5 minute break to use the bathroom, by my clients. I was in my clinic that day until after 2 PM.

On top of this the Government are taking the 1% levy and now I have to pay a further 3 or 4 % levy on my pension!

Some people take it for granted that I am an easy target and try pour their abusive behavious on me.............I'm not paid enough to take it, trust me! Plus, I have too much self respect to take it!

I am a single parent, trying to put myself and my daughter through college...........Don't start on the grant, for my daughter, todate that has NOT come through either!

I work 70 miles away from my home and in order to stay employed and keep my travelling cost's down, I stay with my parents the week I work!

What really pisses me off is that the public & the Government think that because I am a public servant, I am an easy target and have therefore decided to screw me financially.

I know I have a job and I used to love it, but lads, there is reason in all things.

I am very good at what I do, but I really dislike being screwed!

Rant over........................sigh

RE: music for the cs party

Thank you for apologising Petal, I found the post's rough last night.

Clodagh, take a spoon of honey in warm water, melt, then add a rubex, it's great for coughs and colds, loads of Vitamin C in it, great for getting rid of colds and the honey soothes your chest.

Ivy & thyme drops are brilliant for the chest too.

Vinny Good Luck

Good morning Nuala,

The sun is splitting the stones in West Cork this morning. I can see the windmills from my office and they are located beyond Drimoleague. (About 20 odd miles away!)
