RE: Catholism, Mary and 'False Gods'..

I like to think of myself as a prayerful person rather than a spiritual person. God and I have the best personal relationship with each other!! I pray to Him all the time. I don't require myself to pray to anyone else, but you know all of God's Angels are his friends and they talk to him all the time too. And of course his Mom talks to Him as well. You see the relationships are all interconnected and I am in it. I pray to the angels and saints and the Holy Mother all the time. They will go to God for me and so God hears my prayers multiple times. It is sort of like leveraging your prayers with all members of the Christian community here on earth when we go to mass and then in heaven with all the angels and saints. I never bypass Jesus, because when I say amen I am ending my prayer in the name of Jesus. Study not only the bible, but also the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is our guide in following our doctrine and understanding the Holy Bible. It is the best source to go to for these questions you have about our faith.

Thank you so much for your compliment and I am glad I could help you explain it better. Remember protestants are protesters of the Catholic Church. They are the ones who revised our Holy Bible and decided to start faux religions. They stole our term "church" and used it to describe their houses of worship so their followers would feel better and be able to say they go to the "church". The truth is the one and only true church is the Catholic Church, with our Pope being the direct apostolistic desendent of Jesus himself. Don't get me wrong, protestants can go to heaven, but it is very much more difficult for them than us Catholics who follow the divine doctrine in our lives. I pray that God has mercy on the souls of the pastors and evangelists who know not what they do in leading their gullible flocks of followers astray from Jesus Christ's Church. I live in the south also, and I know what you mean about the Catholics being minorities. Just remember how blessed we are to be Catholics and can recieve the body and blood of Christ during mass like He wants us to do in rememberance of Him!! Protestants will never be able to participate in this Holy Eucharest unless they repent and turn from their ways and convert over to the correct Christian faith, our Catholic Faith.

You need to be careful about putting too much importance on such words spoken by a gifted man who could not acknowledge where his gifts came from. Einstein was a most thankless man and could only focus his thoughts how it would be like to ride on a beam of light. What a fruitcake. His impact on mankind is miniscule compared to Jesus Christ who didn't need science, say for instance, to walk on water.

RE: Catholism, Mary and 'False Gods'..

There is no specific verse in the bible that says "pray to Mary", but in Isaiah 11:1-3 we see that we are endowed with the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit which prompts us in our beliefs and justifies our prayerful habits. These seven gifts are: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, piety, fortitude, and fear of the Lord.

So do not look in the bible for something that is not there. Instead, use your heart, mind, and soul with these gifts and read and follow the words that ARE there.

RE: Catholism, Mary and 'False Gods'..

Well, I also have tons to say to many of the responses posted from my comments, but I only have limited time on here, so let me just reply quickly to you. You can think of the Virgin Mary as the very first Christian because of the Immaculate Conception. In Luke 1:46, Mary said her soul is blessed by the Lord, or is magnified by the Lord. Read that verse and you will see what I mean. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple, we welcome Jesus' mother into our homes for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope.

Have you ever asked anyone to pray for you...such as your priest, your friends, relatives, other people in your church? Is that not asking them to intercede for you? All Christians have compassion and desire to assist people in their relationship with Christ. Doing this in no way diminishes Jesus' role as the Lord and Saviour. I don't think any Christian would say "Don't talk to me!! Go pray directly to Jesus yourself!"

My experience with Mary has actually significantly improved my relationship with my Lord and Saviour, Jesus. I think time spent with Mary deepens our relationship with Christ. Your Church friends or your pastor all focus on Jesus Christ. To me the logical end of not praying to Mary is that I should never talk to or pray with any other Christians. It suggests I shouldn't go to prayer groups, or even read the Old Testament (because it predates Christ). It suggests I should only talk with Christ alone and never even talk to another human being. To me, that is a definition of a hermit and although it can be a valuable calling for some, I don't think it is for me.

Mary's role is not to take the place of Jesus. She is proud of her Son and wants everyone to know about her Son Jesus and she will do anything to help that relationship. So that is why we pray to her. It is crucial in our relationship with the Lord.

RE: Catholism, Mary and 'False Gods'..

The statues in church are symbols only honoring who they represent. Don't you have pictures on your walls of YOUR loved ones in your home? Mary is the Mother of God. Period. The Catholic Church is the only church founded by Jesus Christ himself. The King James bible is flawed and leaves out important verses when he revised it. Don't hypothisize and deduce too much in your analysis of what you read in the bible. Remember that there are mysteries that we will never understand. Don't get lost or stray away because of your lack of faith because faith is the most important component in all of this. By the statement you make about Mary being worshiped as a god is so way off and wrong, it indicates to me that you have been misguided in your education of the Catholic Church. But do not despair. I think you will be alright because eventually you will come around to the correct understanding that Mary was predestined and immune from all the stains of original sin in order to be the Mother of God. We pray to Mary so she will pray for us to her Son. Don't forget that their are angels too. Questions you have will not always be answered, but in the fact that they cannot be answered should strengthen your faith that heaven awaits you when God calls you home.
