RE: Are our hearts really worth risking??

This is one of the questions I was thinking about a lot as well. Is it worth to risk yourself and your heart to someone who eventually breaks it in two? I think there is no good answer like yes and no, but I believe, that in general, you always have to risk or give away something to get another thing in return.
And how will you know what you want or what you value in a person, if you never try any closer relationship to others? We are born without any experience and growing up or growing older means you will always try something new. For a child, the first day of school or the first contact to children of the same age is a risk as well. and when you get older, you risk more and more. For sure we could build up walls around our hearts and let nobody see into our souls, but imagine you would do this for the rest of your life...you will be extremely unhappy and broke inside. And if there is a chance to be happy with someone else who makes you smile, gives you different opinions and cares for you, you will certainly choose this way, because everyone wants at least a little happines in their life.
I am sure we all know what a broken heart feels like, the scars on your soul and this aching emptiness inside. But you only learn to value emotions this way (in my opinion...)
and why giving up after like being hurt nine times, when there might be person number ten who really is the one you have been looking for (friendship, love, or whatever kind of relation). would that be fair?
But I guess, everyone has to decide on their own, if you either give your heart and risk it to be broken but one day very happy, or keep it for you, with no wounds, but no happines either.
