Well ... I think it is because of what people call god is actually something totally different from what they think it is, And there for this "force" is misguided, giving these consequences that you describe.

Religion is not the answer for worlds problems, If it was, we would live in a perfect world. but we are not. So it is an epic fail. Human kind need to reconsider that only thing to help is ourself. We simply have to change and stop using religion as an excuise to everything.

Simply treat others as you want to be treated yourself, it is that simple.
