i have no problem paying for the first date, but after that 50-50 seems right. it's a sign of the timesi think your friend should be up-front about his situation. there's no shame in being unemployed, most of us have been there at some stage or other in our lives. most people will be understanding of this, and it won't be an issue. and good communication is key to any relationship moving forward
