I still have my vinyl lps, 12 inches, and singles.
The static, the crackling and being able to see the vinyl playing were all part of the experience, as was listening whilst reading the album sleeve. If it was a double or triple album there'd be a gatefold sleeve with extra pics and reading, and sometimes even the lyrics.
