Well if the guy knows you have kids but when it comes time he meets them or wants to go further and he does not like them; it would be time to boot him to the curb. My kids dad have nothing to do with them, so I don't get the chance to go on dates; could be my reason for still being single.

If your really into someone, both download Skype; if you have a mic and cam you can call people for free. My guy and I talk all the time he is in Ireland, we text on the cell and chat on yahoo. So anyway you can communicate would be good, including Snail Mail (AKA: handwritten letter) I miss getting handwritten letters from people.
