Superstition is a relic of evolutionary religion. Ancient civilisations believed that volcanoes were an act of "the Gods" but we now have scientific explanations for this. Superstitions all result from earlier beliefs without the benefit of a scientific explanation. Your belief that something bad will happen if you are late for work has no basis in fact. Ask yourself, who is responsible for what might happen if you are late? What is the mechanism or means that something bad might happen to you? You should try going to work rather than returning home and possibly find the worst that can happen is that you will loose your reputation for being punctual.
Spirituality deals with things like love, truth, beauty, sincerity etc and I believe the origins of this are God. Every decision you make in life in relation to yourself or others (not things, posessions, money etc) may effect others and to become more spiritual is to have regard for the consequences of all the decisions you make. It does not require flowers, incense, chanting, secret signs or messages, special clothing or worship patterns to be spiritual. These are the trappings of evolutionary religion and are man-made.
The bible contains many worthwhile things, but how do you reconcile its many inconsistencies. e.g. the old testament says "an eye for an eye...." and the new testament says "turn the other cheek", totally opposite philosophies, thus proving, to me at least, that the bible is inspired, but not written by, God.
In blaming God for all the things that are wrong with the world or in your life, you forget to take into account the fact that we are free will creatures. The things that happen in the world or your life are not God's doing but the outcome of the free will decisions man makes. God's domain in our lives is spiritual, not physical. God will not interfere with our free will, but when you want to do what is good, true, beautiful, dutiful, helpful to others etc, then you can ask for and get all the help you want.
