RE: Greatest Basketball Player of all time...?

Sorry but the fact that you failed to mention Oscar Robertson reflects poorly on the basketball IQ involved in forming the poll/question. The Big O's career stats reflect a greatness no other player has come close to equaling. He not only averaged a near triple double over his entire career but he did so in grand fashion averaging over 25pts in the process. Steals weren't a stat kept until late in his career,had they been, he would be among the career leaders in that category also.

Just as astonishing is the fact that Wilt Chamberlain wasn't among choices in the poll. The man not only was the most prolific scorer in basketball history but he was also the best rebounder and 1 of the best shot blockers also. The man then led the NBA in assists! A 7'1 center who led the league in assists!


The drawback to those 2 being certified as the all time greatest ballers in history is the fact that they only won 1 NBA championship apiece.The fact is they unfortunately never had great players to play with them outside of the year in which they won the title. Note that LBJ and Yao haven't won any yet.

I'd rank the greatest as follows:
1)Micheal Jordan
2)Oscar Robertson
3)Wilt Chamberlain
4)Magic Johnson(Likely,to be replaced by LBJ at this spot if not 2 higher)
5)Kareem Abdul Jabbar
6)Julius (Dr J) Erving (when ABA and NBA stats included)
7)Kobe Bryant
8)Larry Bird
9)prime Shaquille Oneal
10)Issiah Thomas
Bill Russell was a GREAT winner! However, when you look at his FG%, FT% and Ppg you are left to wonder how he would have fared against competition of the 70's let alone later. The Celtics had the best TALENT and formed the best TEAM. Love him but Russell was just a little better than Ben Wallace on much better teams.
Lebron will be a top 3 all time great. He is already a slightly better player than Bird and Doc and thusly should rank as the best SF in history but he has yet to win a title. 1 title and he is top 5 in my book. After the 1st title, he moves up as his game improves(he could and should average more rpg)

Yao Ming will never be better than he is now, which isn't quite top 10 among all time centers.

Hardly,although most Americans rank CNN as the most credible news source,the fact is there is a political divide among news with the most watched news(faux news) being that preferred by Republicans (go figure) and CNN viewed as more credible by Democrats and Independents. The fact is however that although CNN IS the better news source between the 2, intelligent people are wise to seek other more objective sources. News Cred is a sort of news mall which provides readers with a good place to start as far as print news is concerned as is Google news. BBC, PBS and of course C-span and NPR are more objective than Faux and MSN. CNN is more credible and objective than either of those also but less objective than BBC and C span.

What idea did you want him to get? Giving him your phone # would seem to have sent an obvious message of interest.

For me 18 -23 is way too young not because of chronology(although a major factor) nearly as much as true wisdom, common interests, life experiences, real maturity. The same is true however, of a 33-53yo woman who shows a lack of wisdom, common interests and real maturity. Chronology alone doesn't assure any of the above. I have met many 23yos who SEEMED mature beyond their years but were nonetheless too immature for me. My point is that the most mature and wise 23yos with common interests are very likely not as mature as many wise, mature and vibrant women over 33. Why waste either of our time/energy fooling around to "discover"?

Actually the fossils referred to as homo erectus is a descendant of Adam. Why support an idea that Adam was "created" by another "race" or tribe even though you yourself have not read ANYTHING CREDIBLE that supports it?

Liberal,conservative everywhere in between, thinking people KNOW Bush was 1 of the worst presidents in the history of the country.....bottom half for certain. Did he invade Iraq without good cause? Yes..... Was it extremely expensive to do so? YES.........Did he inherit an economy in nearly as bad shape as it was when he left? NO!
How did he do that? Crashing the nations economy and putting its troops in a war it need not be involved in is hardly supporting the country nor the troops. Did he improve education? NO! Did he improve the country in ANY significant way? NO! BTW President Obama HAS created jobs in the USA, just not enough so far to match the rate of job loss that began under Dubya.
Interesting, its the extremists aka "conservatives" who are the problem in the US and abroad. No extremists no suicide bombings, no murders of doctors in church, no 911.
Forbes magazine among others say yes.

mmmm, not that difficult to figure out really. If thuggish behavior is what is being fought against, its counter productive and foolish to exhibit that behavior. What the US has done in some cases has been turn the enemy of the enemy into the friend of the enemy. The problem has NEVER been the gov allowing the military to do its job in Afganistan nor Iraq for that matter, it was the foolish and costly decision to invade Iraq thereby putting the army in a situation it SHOULD NOT have been in and stretching the military(not to mention the US economy) too far. The decision to invade Iraq was foolish to say the least....cowardly in many ways. The troops didn't need to be placed there to be political pawns for an administration that had no clue of world affairs nor how to run the USA. The USA under the Bush administration endured a corporate takeover of the government.You won't learn that on Faux news
