If it wasn't your choice for her to live with her mother and you do everything in your power to help support her no matter where she lives than in my eyes you arent a bum....my ex cheated on me, has our son every other weekend, then has tried many times to get it so our son is with him more. He can't hold a job...pays little to no support....and i get penalized for having a good paying job. Think you are just fine. Hang in there.
The hardest part for me is finding a man that is ok with me being a single parent then always expecting them to go off to Grandma and Papa's everytime I turn around. I can't help but want to be a part of my kids life. My parents are willing to watch my kids for me to go out but I respect them and know they need their time too. They help watch my kids after daycare/school if I am working a later shift. But finding a man that wants to spend as much time with my kids as with just me is hard. Then again to contradict that I am afraid my kids will get attached to a man that I see and will be devestated if things don't work out. I want to show my kids a healthy lifestyle but I am not too sure which is heathier....a single parent who is happy or a couple. And I stress to the man that my kids have a father....they need a role model. I notice that some men tend to be 'put off' (as one man told me) that I was looking for a father for my kids. That was never my intention.
I think everyone just wants to be accepted for who they are and not by their size. There just doesn't seem to be a norm for size anymore. I am a full figured woman trying to lose weight for myself...to give me a healthier lifestyle for me and my children. But most men I meet want really thin woman. So that still seems to be what men want. Just my opinion.
