More About Me
I am a retired university professor who loves to travel and is a writer of stories about his travels. I am also a professional photographer and make photographs mostly of a documentary sort, focusing on people at work or play. I'm not a portrait photographer but show people as they are. I have a large family and they are very important to me. But I also feel a need for a partner who I can share my life with. I use the word "partner" because it is a word that expresses how I think two people should be connected, on an equal basis. I have my goals and passions (writing and photography) and my partner has I hope hers and both of us should encourage each other to accomplish our passions, be unselfish enough to give time and words of encouragement to each other to follow their dreams. I am a kind man. I respect all life. I'm not a church person or believe in "dogma" because often churches are more exclusive than inclusive. All life is holy. I respect trees and birds and people and people who do not believe what I believe. I'm not looking to convert anyone. In America, religions (mostly Christian) believe that they alone know the true way to believe. I think that is one reason why America is often perceived as egocentric. I spent a year teaching in PRC (China Mainland) at a university in Guanchou to graduate students. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. Life there was difficult but the students were wonderful. Fun, intelligent, loved to gossip, hard workers and were very interested in popular music and fashions. I would go back and work there for free if I could. So I seek out other cultures and try to learn about other people and see for myself what they are like. Usually they are way different from what I've learned from TV or movies. Mostly we see government leaders on TV wherever you live and our leaders are usually not at all like the people of a country itself.

I am looking for a partner who is fun. Not a sour-faced person. I also would like to be able to write to the person in English. I hope that request doesn't sound nationalistic. I believe that everyone, including me, should know another language. My youngest son lives in Komomto, Japan for the last five years teaching TEFL (English) and he is now pretty fluent in Japanese and loves the culture and has Japanese girlfriend who he can talk with in her language. I am looking for a partner who is honest in her motives to be with me. I do not want to be a partner with someone who sees me as a ticket out of a bad life. That would not be honest and would not be the basis for an equal relationship. But first I want to know that she is my friend first. That's why I want to exchange many letters so we can get to know each other and how much we trust each other. You do not want to meet someone who says he's honest and is looking for a servant. I do not want a servant but an equal partner in sharing out lives together. Honesty and Trust are the rock on which a relationship lies. I would also like to meet someone who is healthy in mind and body. Someone who has not experienced bad treatment from men and therefore would not be open and honest about her feelings because she has been abused. If abused she must want a normal physical and personal relationship with me and I with her. If she does not lot herself, does not respect herself, has injuries from the past that will not heal, then maybe a relationship would be doomed from the start. Can you be close to someone, if you feel attraction? I want to repeat something I said before: I don't want to feel that I am your ticket out of a bad situation and feel that any ticket will do.
