Mosh Ben-Ari - God is One

A great song by the Israeli singer, Mosh Ben-Ari, God is One. ".. we are all different, it does not matter how we call our gods.."

I personally think that whether we are Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus, etc., pagans, atheists or agnostics, what or who we are is not judged by what religion or beliefs we have. It is how we conduct our lives, in good or in bad, of being respectful of others, of the laws, and ourselves.

Thanks for that!

Very true. Whatever religion we believe, or don't believe, everyone should live and let live. Not try to impose our beliefs on others and no one religion or race is superior to any other.

Hello, Wowwave I hope you are having a nice, restful week-end.

I agree with you, but historically, that has never been the case. Mohammedanism, for example, was spread out by force when it comes to religion; and when it comes to nations or races, one way or another one country or race has been conquered by another. As human beings, we are highly competitive creatures -- in our search for validation, power, success, attention, even love.

I don't believe people can ever be equal because of this and also on the resources at our disposal, our socio-economic status, our geographical location, mental capabilities, our attitudes, even our physical attributes. There will always be people who have it more (or less) than others.

My grandma used to say, "Never compare yourself to others, as there will always be those who are better than you are; but, there will also be always people who have it less than you do, so be happy with what you have."

Hi there, yes and I hope you are too. I know historically it has never been the case but I live in hope! Your grandma was very wise in her words. Have a look at the relevant threads on the politics and current events forum on here about the Middle East to see the range of views.

I am, too, just taking it easy. It's a long week-end as Monday is a holiday here in Belgium, so it's even nicer.

Yes, and it is interesting to read every one's viewpoints, opinions, and beliefs.

Much as I will never advocate the Islamic faith (I have my own, thank you), I acknowledge the Muslims' right to express themselves just like anybody else and that there must be something good in it for millions of people to believe in it.

In every religion, there will always be good and bad, even in the Christian faith where I belong. There will always be those who interpret its teachings to further their own objectives - be it religious, political, or otherwise.

I will never look at Islam as a religion of terror as a whole because of the 9/11 attacks or other acts of terror by some of its followers -- much as I will never condemn the whole German nation for the genocide committed by Adolf Hitler.
It is just unfair to look at it that way.

I admire every one's will and determination, though, to assert their own convictions. After all, we are all entitled to have one.

Hello, Wowwave

By the way, when it comes to the Israeli issue, I recognize Israel's right to defend herself from her aggressors. It's high time the Jews learn how to defend themselves and not only sit there and let themselves be annihilated like in the Holocaust.

I believe in the principle of providing equitable retribution, in the act of retaliation in the laws of the Torah -- "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth".

I don't believe in the Christian interpretation of 'lex talionis' - in the saying of Jesus that "When anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." No, it does not work, in my own experience. You should learn how to strike back and defend yourself, so they will not keep on doing it to you.

I think Islam has the same interpretation as in Judaism, although it seems to be applied quite literally. I say to both, why not? It's better than just sitting there and taking it..

Have a great Sunday!bouquet
