Pretentiousness exemplified. The metaphors in this crap make Sting sound intelligent by comparison.

If someone wrote a song about a little girl being physically abused and sexually molested by fundamentalist christian parents, there'd be an uproar and politicians trying to ban it. Make propaganda, lies and hate speech about atheist parents, and nobody bats an eye.

5. "Where Were You" - Alan Jackson

Disgusting opportunism dressed up as flag waving. This is the musical equivalent of George Bu**sh** telling people to keep shopping and buy things as a way to "preserve our freedoms".

6. "Seasons In The Sun" - Terry Jacks

Music to commit suicide by.

7. "Used To Be" - Charlene and Stevie Wonder

If you thought Wonder scraped the bottom of the barrel with "Ebony and Ivory", this is him licking the slime on the underside. Charlene is the same idiot at #1 on the list.

8. "Macarena" - Los del Rio

When people speak of Chubby Checker's "The Twist", they think of dance crazes. When I hear "Macarena", I think of twisting a garrotte around the necks of those who made that song.

9. "We Built This City" - Starship

Crass corporate commercialism from a group that once epitomized independence and confrontation.

10. "My Ding-A-Ling" - Chuck Berry

The Poet Laureate and real King of Rock and Roll, forced to degrade himself by a record company. It's a sad statement that Berry's only #1 hit was a p*nis joke at the emotional level of five year old, especially considering the dozens of classic rock and roll songs he both wrote and recorded.
