the avro arrow was an all canadian interceptor/bomber jet developed in the 1950s. had the programme not been cancelled, it would have given canada air superiority from inception to today and beyond (with updates). By comparison, the 1st generation of jets were built in the 1940s; today's jets are 5th generation; and the arrow was an 2nd generation jet with 6th generation (jets still on the drawing board) capabilities. after the avro arrow programme was scrapped, the canadian engineers played critical roles in the development of nasa's space programs and supersonic passenger planes. one of, if not the most, lamented and shameful moments in canadian tech history. This video is part 1 in a series of 13 episodes. the series has very dated anime, but it's about how the arrow would stack up against jets today. a couple of aerospace experts, with at least one of them involved in the arrow's development, present the arrow in action against russian jets as russia attempts to seize control of the far north, which canada claims sovereignty over.
