the rolling stone record guide

this is my "bible" for music. along with the music reviews in "stereo review" magazine (now "sound & vision"), my love for music began over 45yrs ago. these sources opened my ears to fabulous music. there's a 4th edition of the rsrg. the reviewers have changed and some indispensable albums in the original edition(5 stars) have been downgraded. my music preferences favour the 1st edition. in my youth, i would spend hours and hundreds of dollars scouring the bins at many record stores in search of the 5 star albums. it was quite exciting/joyful finding one. rarely was i disappointed with the music. sold my 700+ record collection years ago. something i've come to regret, since many of those albums never made it to cds. hunting for the albums on spotify has renewed the thrill.
