    • How do I change my password?
Click on Edit Settings on the top nav (in the dropdown for your photo), then click on Change Password.
    • My password appears in the login box whenever I visit Connecting Singles. How do I stop this?
First of all, this is your Browser, NOT Connecting Singles, that is saving your password for you and putting it into the login box on Connecting Singles. Connecting Singles has no control over this.

Fortunately you can fix this. See directions below:

If your password automatically appears in the login box, it means Password Manager is enabled on your computer. You enabled it the first time you came to Connecting Singles (or any other site), when your browser gave you a pop-up message asking if you wanted to save your login info for this site. If you clicked yes, your username and password would automatically be entered into the login box every time you came to this site using that computer, and anyone after you could sign in as you also. This is a Browser setting and has nothing to do with this website.

You can disable that auto-login feature (see below for Firefox instructions). To protect your privacy, you should NOT use Password Manager if you share a computer with anyone else, or use a computer in a library or other public place. If you are concerned about your password on the site, you should change it - click on Edit Settings in top nav (in the dropdown for your photo), and then click on Change Password.

Firefox: Directions for disabling auto login
Password Manager is on by default. To turn it off:

      • Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
      • From the Privacy & Security category, choose Web Passwords. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.)
      • In the Password Manager section, deselect "Remember passwords for sites that require me to log in" to turn Password Manager off.
      Managing Stored Passwords
To see a list of the user names and passwords you have stored:

      • Open the Tasks menu, choose Privacy & Security, and then choose Password Manager.
      • Select View Stored Passwords from the submenu. You see the Password Manager window.
      • Click the Passwords Saved tab. You see a list of all the stored user names. (Passwords are not listed.)
      • To remove a user name, click it and then click Remove. The next time you visit the web site, you will be asked to enter your password.
      • Click the Passwords Never Saved tab to see a list of the web sites for which you instructed Password Manager never to store user names. To remove a web site from this list, click it and then click Remove. The next time you visit the web site, you will be asked if you want Password Manager to save the user name and password for this site. Click "No".
    • The login page keeps appearing
If you repeatedly get bounced back to the login screen, with no message about an incorrect username or password, this is probably caused by your browser not retaining your login information correctly. To fix this you need to enable cookies on your browser.

      Do all the following:

      • Change your browser settings to accept cookies. Click here for directions on how to enable cookies

  • Editing My Profile

  • Profile

    • Why did my profile get deleted?
Your profile may have been deleted for one of the following reasons:

      • You submitted an invalid email address or other invalid information
      • You do not reside within membership area - if your location is not on list, you may not join.
      • You used a proxy to access the site.
      • You did not complete your profile
      • You entered gibberish in narratives
      • You entered narrative text that is not appropriate for the site
      • You used the site for soliciting or advertising, posting a URL.
      • You posted inappropriate or offensive content to the forums.
      • We received complaints about your profile or your behavior on the site.
      • You entered more than one profile. You already have a profile here
      • You are not single.
      • You are under 18 (or at least your photo looks that way).
We do not notify you if your profile is deleted.
    • Why did my photo get deleted?
    • Why isn't my profile approved yet? Is something wrong?
Profiles submitted are checked by the system and normally approved shortly after registration. Approval may be delayed if your profile requires manual attention due to your profile info not being complete or accurate. If your location, email address or profile info is not valid, if you enter gibberish, urls or email addresses in your narratives, or if you use a proxy to access the site, your profile will be put on hold.

We believe that good relationships are built on honesty. If you register false information, your profile will not be approved, or it will be deleted without notice when found or reported.

Heavy staff workload may also cause profile approval delays.
    • Why does my profile say that I'm online, when I'm not?
If you click the sign out button on the top of the page, your profile will no longer say "online now". Otherwise, it may say "online now" on your profile up to 20 minutes after you leave the site.
  • Uploading Photos

    • How do I upload a photo to my Profile?
You may have up to 8 photos with your profile.

      1. Once logged in, click on My Account in the top navigation bar (in the dropdown for your photo), then click on Upload Photos.
      2. Click the Browse button and a file dialog window will appear on your screen.
      3. Locate the path of the image file you wish to upload and double click on it. The file dialog window will disappear.
      4. Then click "Upload Photo" button on the Photo page.
Thumbnails of the photos you upload will appear on the middle of the page. These thumbnails are only the small version of your photo used in search results. A full version of the photo will be seen on your profile page.

Reminder: Your PRIMARY photo MUST be of YOU and show YOUR face clearly. Other photos may be secondary photos.

Photos should be in a .jpg file format, no larger than 200kb in size.
    • I am having trouble uploading or emailing my photo.
Large photos take a long time to upload. They may time out. If you have trouble uploading or emailing your photo, the photo file is probably too large or it was not in the right file format (must be .jpg format).
If possible, reduce the size or resolution of your photos and try them again. Photos must be in a .jpg format. 200-400 pixels in size is best.

If you still have trouble, you can email your photos to us or send them in the mail and we will add them to your profile for you. Go to the Upload Photos page for details on how to send your photos by email and how to send your photos by mail.
    • How do I send my photos to CS by EMAIL?
Go to the Photos page for details.
    • How do I send my photos to CS by MAIL?
Go to the Photos page for details. We will scan your photos for you and upload them to your profile. We provide this service FREE of charge to our members!
    • What format and size does ConnectingSingles.com accept?
ConnectingSingles.com accepts JPG/JPEG format only. If you have a photo in a format other than JPG/JPEG, please convert it, or send it to us by email or mail and we will convert it for you. Your photo must not exceed 200kb. If it is larger than this, you can make the file smaller by cropping out unnecessary background, shrinking the width and height of your photo, or reducing the resolution.
    • Why did my photo get deleted (or get moved from being primary)?
Photos are an option, not a requirement. If you wish to have a photo with your profile, upload photos according to the rules. Photos that break the rules or are not appropriate for this site are deleted.

Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. Your photo represents you to members who don't know you and, like it or not, you will be judged by what you choose to display. So think about what your photos 'say' about you.

      PHOTO RULES:

      • PRIMARY photo must be of YOU and must show YOUR face clearly.
      • Do NOT include CHILDREN for SAFETY reasons.
      • Must match your stated gender.
      • No celebrities, models, copyrighted or altered images, cartoons, or drawings.
      • No special effects or frames.
      • No nudity, obscenity, sexual or offensive photos, display of weapons, or illegal activity.
      • No photos in which you are, or appear to be under age 18 years.
      • Tiny photos do not post well and will be deleted.
      • Dark, blurry or poor quality photos will not be posted.
      • Must be in .jpg format, no larger than 200kb.
**A nude or obscene photo will get you permanently banned from this site.

  • Searches

  • Members

    • How do I report another member?
Click here to report another member, or click on the Report Abuse link at the bottom of the page, when viewing a members profile.
    • Someone I was talking to disappeared from the site. Where are they?
There are several reasons why a member might disappear from the site:

      • The member has been removed from the site by staff (as a result of complaints received about the member, or the member using the site for purposes other than dating: mass mailing, soliciting, requesting money from members, etc.)
      • The member has hidden their profile
      • The member has cancelled their profile
      • If you are trying to find them via a username search, you may have misspelled their username.
    • Can members be banned from this site?
This site has rules to protect members and their experience here. Knowing, accepting and following the rules is required for membership. It is not site staff's responsibility to warn you when you break them.

      • Members who break the rules or whose behavior on the site, blogs, or forums is unacceptable may be removed without warning.
      • Members who attempt to use the site for reasons other than dating (such as soliciting of ANY kind, money or romance scam, building mailing lists, identity theft, multiple or fake profiles, or any suspicious activity) will be removed without notice.
      • Members under legal age will be removed.
      • If the profile of someone you have been communicating with suddenly disappears, they have likely been removed for safety and quality of the site and members. No warning or notice will be sent.
Although it's common to hear a banned member complain about the rules, or that members who reported them got them banned...this is NOT true! When banning is necessary, it was the member's own bad behavior that got them banned. Members are adults and held accountable for their own actions here.
  • Blocking

    • How can I block a member and keep them from contacting me?
The best way to handle unwanted mail is to Block the member that you do not want to communicate with. Click on the BLOCK THIS MEMBER FROM CONTACTING ME button inside an incoming message/flower/eCard from him/her and they will no longer be able to send you mail/flowers/eCards/IMs, and they will get a message about being blocked when they try – so they will know you don’t appreciate what they have previously sent.

If the member has displayed bad manners or bad taste, the Block feature is the best solution. However, you should report anyone who you suspect of scam or illegal activity to: Report Abuse.
    • How do I UN-block a member once I've blocked them?
Go to your Blocked List (a link for your Blocked List is located on the Edit Settings page that is contained in the top navigation bar in the dropdown for your photo). When on your Blocked List find the person you want to unblock, then click the "unblock icon" () next to their profile. This will delete them from your blocked list and they will be able to contact you again.
    • How do I block members from a certain location, age group or marital status from mailing me?
Go to your Edit Settings page (in the top nav in the dropdown for your photo) and click on Edit Block Settings, then select the criteria of members that you want to block (by location, age, gender, marital status, or what they are looking for). Then click "submit".

Choices you make on this page will determine and limit who can contact you. Mail and flowers filtered out by the settings you choose, will NOT be able to contact you.
  • Mail

    • I am not receiving mail notices from ConnectingSingles when I get email on the site.
We DO notify you! Did you register a valid email address? Have you whitelisted Connecting Singles for delivery with your email provider? Is your off-site email box full?

If you are not receiving our mail, the notice may have gone into your Bulk or Junk folder. Many email providers will not deliver mail unless we are approved by you. click here for directions to approve and whitelist Connecting Singles for delivery or check with your email provider. Otherwise, you won't receive our cool mail notices and your profile may be deleted if our mail to you bounces back... You don't need to worry... we NEVER share email addresses with any other party and we NEVER send spam.

Keep your email address current. Don't miss out on mail notices, or risk having your profile deleted due to mail bouncebacks.
    • My mail disappeared with a member I was talking to
Mail may disappear for various reasons:

      • Old mail (over 30 days old) is removed from time to time to save on site resources.
      • The sender may cancel and leave the site.
      • The sender may have been removed from the site by staff. (as a result of complaints received about the member, or the member using the site for purposes other than dating: mass mailing, soliciting, requesting money from other members, etc. When a member gets banned, their mail automatically disappears.)
      • A member's profile and mail may be deleted because they registered an email address that isn't valid and mail notices to them bounce back.
    • I received a notice that I have mail on the site, but it is not there.
We remove mass mailers, solicitors, spammers and scammers and when we do, their mail is automatically deleted also. This is for your protection. If you receive a notice but see no mail, it means the profile was removed after your notice went out.
    • Why are my messages blocked?
Many members filter mail because they don't want to communicate with members outside of their own area, age range or marital status preference. Members can set their mail preferences using the Edit Block Settings page. Connecting Singles has no control over member email preferences. You can do a Search for members in your own area, where you will not be filtered.

Members can block specific members from contacing them by clicking the "block" button in an incoming message or flower.
    • How do I contact another member?
An Email button appears for each member on their profile and on search results. Click the button, and you will be taken to a Compose page to type your message and subject. Click "Send Message" and your message will be sent to the member’s onsite Inbox. A copy of your message will go to your outbox.
    • How do I view my inbox? (mail I have received)
Click Mailbox () icon on the top navigation bar and a list of your incoming messages will appear. To view a message, click on the subject of the message. A NEW incoming message will have a blue background, and will say "No" under the "Opened" column. A message you have OPENED will have a white background, and will say "Yes" under the opened column. A staff message will always have a red stamp on it that says "CS Staff". Like this:

    • How do I view my outbox? (mail I have sent)
Click the Mailbox () icon on the top navigation bar then click the Outbox Tab to view your sent messages. To view a message you sent, click on the subject of the message.
    • How do I view my mail history with another member?
When viewing a message, click the "mail history" link. Or, when on the Mailbox page, click on the "history" icon for each message to access your mail history with the sender.
    • Can I tell if a member has received my message?
Yes you can. In your Outbox, look at the "Opened" column where it will tell you whether the person opened your message or not.
    • If I delete a sent message, does it delete it from the receiver's inbox?
No. If you delete a sent message, it will stay in the receiver's inbox. Once you send a message to someone, you cannot take it back or delete it from their inbox.
    • If I delete my messages by mistake, can staff restore it for me?
No, deleted mail cannot be restored. The mail system is automated. Staff cannot delete or restore it.
    • How can I receive mail ONLY from members within a certain age range?
Go to your Edit Settings page (in the dropdown for your photo in the top navigation bar) and click on Edit Block Settings, then choose the age range that you WANT TO HEAR FROM (anyone outside that age range will not be able to contact you). Then click "submit".
    • How can I receive mail ONLY from certain locations?
Go to your Edit Settings page (in the dropdown for your photo in the top navigation bar) and click on Edit Block Settings, then check the Block button next to the locations of members where you WANT TO BLOCK. Then click "submit".
    • I am not getting responses to the mail I sent. My mail is not being opened. What is wrong?
We notify members when they receive onsite mail. If they have provided a valid email address, they will receive those notices; if not, they won't get the notices and it may be longer until they return to the site and see what you have sent. It is their choice to login and check their mail, and it is their choice whether or not to open or respond. We have no control over any of this.

If you are not willing to wait for a response, send mail only to members whose last activity date is recent.

If a member does not open or respond to your mail, they may not have time to answer, they may be receiving too much mail already, they may be corresponding with someone special already, or they may just not be interested in your profile. Find someone else to write to...

It takes a lot of time and patience to find someone special. Don't give up. There is someone out there for you. That person may join tomorrow.

In the meantime, give members a reason to write to you. Help others get to know you. Add positive, upbeat info to your narratives about yourself, describe more about what you are seeking in your match, add some new photos, fill out the extended profile. Also, check out the Forums area of the site. Many members have a lot of fun meeting and talking there while waiting to meet ‘the one’. Add a blog about your thoughts or experiences to let others know more about you and possibly attract someone who feels the same (note that a blog is a journal - not a personal ad).

Use site features to bring more attention to your profile and mail to your inbox. Click here to learn how to get more views to your profile.
    • I registered, but it said I can't send mail yet.
You can't send mail to other members until your profile has been approved. You may start using all the features of the site as soon as your profile is approved. All features of the site are TOTALLY FREE TO USE. There are no surprise fees or hidden charges for sending or receiving messages, or any other feature. Click here for more about profile approval.

We assume that you have read our Terms of Use and have entered valid, tasteful information when you registered. If that is not the case, or we suspect so, your profile will NOT be approved and will be deleted without notice.

      • man seeking a man: only men seeking men will appear on your "Who's Viewed Me" list.
    • I don't want people to know when I view them. Can I turn it off?
Yes, you can turn off Who's Viewed me, and people will NOT know when you view their profile. But, you will ALSO not know when people view your profile, which is incentive for most people to keep it on.

      Who's Viewed me TURNED OFF:

      • Others will not see you have viewed them
      • Any existing views on your Who’s Viewed Me List will be deleted permanently

    • I received an email/flower from someone who is not on my "Who's Viewed Me List"...How is this possible?
      This can mean several things:

      • That member may have their "Who's Viewed Me" list turned off, so their view to your profile was not recorded
      • You may have "Who's Viewed Me" turned off, so that views to your profile are not being recorded
      • The member clicked on the Email/Flower button from a search results page without viewing your full profile.
    • Why has no one viewed my profile?
      There can be several reasons:

      • Your profile is hidden or not approved yet
      • You recently joined, so no one has had the chance to view your profile yet
      • You don't have a photo and so you aren't appearing on very many search results. Most members search by photo-only.

Article: An article is a nonfictional composition on a specific topic (stated in the title) about something you have experience or expertise in, or that you have researched. It's presented in an unbiased manner and strives to prove or accomplish its theme. If an opinion is given, it should be based on knowledge. An article has a lesson or point to make and a conclusion. It's goal is to inform and/or entertain. An article is more formal than a blog, and is normally a minimum of 250 words in length. Feedback comments are accepted.

Blog: A blog entry can be whatever you want it to be... it's a personal journal of rants and raves, your opinions or ideas on any topic, or it could be just a note about your day. A blog post is an opinion, therefore biased, can be of any length, and research is not required. it's less formal than an article. Comments are accepted.

Forum Post: If you want to have a group discussion with many members on any topic of general interest, post it in the CS Forum.

    • What is a blog on Connecting Singles?
A Blog is a journal you may enter about your life, your thoughts, interesting experiences, or lessons you have learned. It's your own page on Connecting Singles that you can update on a regular basis, or just whenever you have something to say. You can write about an opinion, impart words of wisdom, or talk about something interesting in your day. Creating a blog is a good way to share something of yourself with Connecting Singles members. Reading blogs is a good way to learn more about members you have met here.

A blog IS NOT a personal-ad describing yourself or the person you are seeking. You have a profile on the site for that.
A blog is NOT for one-to-one chatting. You have onsite email for that. Click the "Email" button on a member's profile.
A blog IS NOT a Forum for discussion, debate, advice or asking questions of other members. Join the Connecting Singles Forums for these purposes.

Use your blog to record your thoughts, opinions and ideas. All blogs are open to viewing by the public and to comments from other members. You may read and then delete those comments to your blog if you wish. You may edit your own blog, however, you may not edit your comment to another member's blog.

Consider what you post to be permanent. We don't allow posts to be deleted or changed because it may change the meaning of what others have said and disrupt the flow of the discussion.

No, we do not make any claim on your copyright of the poem or work. Our only concern is for the operation of the website.

  • Privacy

    • What personal information does Connecting Singles collect?
Connecting Singles is 100% free. We do not ask for your credit card or any personal information and we don't want it. We require your valid email address, only so that we can notify you of onsite mail.

We NEVER share or sell your email address to anyone, and we NEVER send spam.

See our Privacy Statement for more information.
    • Does Connecting Singles share/sell my email address?
No, we NEVER share your email address. We NEVER send spam!
We use your email address to notify you when you receive messages/flowers on the site, and occasionally send match information.

If you are receiving spam in your email, consider the following:

      • Did you include your email address in the narrative text on your profile or forums posts here or on another site? (against site rules) If so, your email address may be picked up and placed on email lists and you will subject yourself to loads of spam!
      • Did you give your email address out to someone you didn't know online? Unfortunately, some people use online dating sites, to build email lists. These people will pressure you for your email address early on, and won't be interested in communicating through the site at all. They will make excuses for not communicating on the site (like using the photo excuse: saying they can't upload a photo to this site and wanting your email address to send you a photo). If you DO NOT give your email address, they will move on to the next target. If you DO give your email address, they will likely not answer or they will insist they didn't receive it and ask you for another email address (then they'll have 2 for their list).
      • Think about the other places you have entered your email address on or offline...where you may have been added to an email list
    • Does Connecting Singles have spyware?
      No.
  • Success Stories

  • Scam

    • What is romance scam?
A romance scam occurs when a stranger pretends romantic intentions, gains the affection of victims, and then uses that goodwill to gain access to their victims' money, bank accounts, credit cards, passports, email accounts, and/or national identification numbers or by getting the victims to commit financial fraud on their behalf.

The majority of scammers are located in Africa especially West Africa: Nigeria (Lagos), Senegal, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire; and Russia and Ukraine (for this reason, these areas are blocked from using ConnectingSingles, but some of them get around these blocks). This type of scam is very common on dating sites and you will likely receive email from a scammer on this site.

Fortunately, if you know the warning signs, then it is easy to spot the scammers. Please read our Scam pages and watch our Scam Videos so that you can learn the warning signs and keep from getting scammed!
    • How can I know if a member is who they say?
We do everything we can at Connecting Singles to provide a quality and safe environment for singles to meet. However, we do not do background checks, and we have no way of knowing if the information a member enters in their profile is actually true, or if their photo is really of them.

It is up to each member to use good sense and extreme caution when corresponding over the internet with people they do not know. Don't be pressured to give personal information about yourself or family. Your onsite mailbox is provided to protect your anonymity. Use it. Don't give out your personal email address early on. Visit our Scam Happens pages for information on how to be aware and beware of scammers in online dating. Also see our Current Scams page.
    • They say they can't upload a photo... how likely that is true?
The photo excuse... If they want your email address to send you a photo with the excuse that they “can’t get a photo on the site”, or they “don’t know how to add a photo”, this may be a ploy to get your private email address. If they can email a photo to you… they can email (or mail) that photo to this site to be added for them. Refer them to their Photos page for details. Sharing your private email address may put you on mailing lists and subject you to loads of spam. ConnectingSingles does not share your email address and NEVER sends spam.
    • Why would someone ask me to mail or IM them on another site, when mail & IM here is FREE?
Usually this means one of the following things:

      • The person is only here to advertise for another site...usually a start up with no members.
      • The person is a scammer who wants to get you off the site... away from scam reports by other members or site systems that will expose them.
      • They want to take you to a site where they can charge you, collect personal information about you, or give you a computer virus.
click here to read more about advertising scams.
    • Why is it bad to give out my email address when someone asks for it right away?
If a member asks you for your email address right away, it is suspicious. They may be building email lists, or they may be scammers who want to get you off of this site before we find and delete them.

click here to read more about advertising scams.
    • Someone on the site is asking me for money. Should I help them?
No! Never send money or you WILL GET SCAMMED! If anyone requests (or offers) you money for ANY reason on a dating site, it is a scam! Report them!

Click here to read more about scam and watch scam videos here.
    • I was scammed by someone on the internet. Can I post my story on your site to warn others?
Yes, post your story here to warn others, or if the scammer is on this site, report them and we will remove them promptly. Connecting Singles takes a hard line against scammers, and we have systems in place to help keep them off the site. We want our members to be aware of the red flags so that they can keep scam from happening to them. Check out our scammers pages for more information.
    • So will I ever find 'the ONE' and who can I trust?
It takes time and patience to find 'the ONE'. In the meantime, try to enjoy your search and have fun finding friends. Don't rush! We recommend you look for someone living close enough to you to meet often and get to know each other slowly. No matter what they tell you, real love doesn't happen in 2 weeks of emailing. Think with your head, not only with your heart. Use the site to get acquainted. Use caution to stay safe.
