life is what happens when your'e too busy thinking

Hi everyone...wow !! it's been over 4 months that I have visited this site and it brings a smile and a warm feeling, when I see all the familiar names and faces. Something I truly enjoy about this site, is the fact, that what we do for a living, is totally irrelevant and no-one is ever judged on a materialistic level.

Our materialistic successes are after-all, our stuff and it really doesn't mean much to the next person. I was reading a blog about humanism and it is an interesting word and I often wonder how "human" we truly are, when we see what stuff people get up to. We are taught that we truly are one, but it seems we spend our lives trying to screw each other over at every turn.

It somehow feels as if we have lost the plot somehow and that we have given up on our own dreams and have bought into religious or political fanaticism, and we develop this attitude that we are superior to the rest, because of what we believe in. It saddens me when I read about all the conflicts throughout the world because of one or other person holding the view that they are right and everyone else is wrong.....wow !!! what arrogance !

Anyway...let me get off my soapbox and just Hi to everyone !

We are all one, except we just have not got the memo yet !

The inner journey

There is a saying that goes "if you do not go within, you go without". What I have learned in life, is that we do not question our lives when all is going well...it is when things are not going well, that we tend to question or lives. As you all know, I recently ended a relationship which invariably made me start questioning where it all went wrong and what I could of done differently ?

It is not always easy to accept or acknowledge that it takes two people to make or break a relationship and our egos are tempted to dump most of the blame on our ex-partners, as this gives us a way out of having to look within ourselves and accept any kind of responsibility. The inner journey is perilous, because it forces us to look at ourselves with total honesty and acceptance that we are in fact, not as perfect as we would like to think we are.

It is actually quite astounding that when you start digging behind the motives of why you do certain things, you realize that you have issues that come way back that you never resolved or worked through them and hoped that they would fade into insignificance...the simple fact is this...if you ignore it, it will not go away and it will keep on repeating itself throughout your life.

I keep on asking myself, why I attract a certain type of woman and what is it, that I am projecting, that is attracting this type of person ? It once again takes a lot of honesty to admit the "baggage free' person that I once thought I was, was perhaps being delusional about not having baggage, but after a big relationship bust-up, it certainly forces you to re-evaluate that statement or view.

I can accuse my ex-partner of many things but I choose not to and I choose to rather see it as a blessing in disguise, as she has forced me to take a long hard look at myself. When the wheels do sometimes fall off, it could be our creators way of forcing us to take a long hard look at ourselves and to admit that we are not perfect, but that we are prepared to work on ourselves for the betterment of future relationships.

What I have learned in all of this, that it starts with self love and without this foundation, any future relationship is doomed to fail. We forget that the people that truly push our buttons, are the ones that teach us the most about ourselves...they are our true teachers.

They say that life should theoretically get easier as we get older but the more information we have, somehow makes it tougher to accept that as being true. I think perhaps ignorance is true bliss. Why is it that certain people can go through life without the least bit of stress or relationship trauma and the rest of us are left trying to figure it all out?...and floundering as we go along.

If you do have the answer, please let me know, as I have been searching for it for 47 years.
