First ever blog post!

I feel a bit behind the times with this being my first ever blog, even for someone who considers himself a bit of a writer! I suppose there's a first time for everything. I wonder what the typical person blogs about.. Is it an outlet for ranting about the gentleman who took the last seat in a waiting room right when you walked in the door? Maybe a forum to update relative strangers on a personal struggle you're going through? Sharing a writing or lyric you've been working on with hopes of positive feedback? I honestly have no idea. From all the buzz around blogging and twitter it seems it is the way of the future for communication and I am behind the curve on this! doh

I think I'll take this opportunity to share a snippet of a novel I'm writing! That sounds blog worthy doesn't it? Here you go;

Very rough beginnings to a novel titled "Samuel and the Wishing Well"

Hidden deep within the seemingly endless wheat fields of old Nebraska stood the small town of Storia. It's crisscrossed streets were riddled with tumble weed and dying foliage, left behind by a brief rain that had fallen some days before. The ranges to the east were scattered with trees and occasional wild flowers that grew in stark contrast to the barren and somewhat pastel town-scape. Several rows of hardwood cabins ran parallel to the city walls on either side of town. The market place lined the street between the cabins and an old wishing well stood at the very center.

The morning sun rose steadily over the mountain tops, filling the Autumn leaves with color and consuming Storia in a fiery shadow of ruby and topaz. The rusty old church bell rang dull and monotone as the sunlight crept across town, through Samuels window and, as it had every Sunday morning, awoke him entirely too early.

END.

Hope you enjoyed it! I'll add more later as I piece it together.
