Being a child was wonderful

As a kid it was great hanging out with my friends. Both boys and girls were buddies, strangers were always fun to meet and do things with too. Culture and other things never interfered with the purity of being yourself and curious about learning different things. Then, all of a sudden the adults and family would promote the belief that you must live in the "should world" and if you don't, you will be punished or isolated. Hate and prejudice emerged. No longer could I treat my buddies on an equal basis. Going to church every Sunday also separated me from some of my friends. I noticed other religions also showed the same prejudice. Somehow the adults added color to the equation and growing up made me very aware with whom I should associate with. On top of that there are more obstacles; perverts, child molesters and other simple-witted adults. So sad we can't have the innocence and joy of childhood.

What are we turning into?

I noticed meat has more fat than ever before. The lean meat is very little while there is a lot of fat. We are paying to eat fat more than meat. This is because animals are no longer permitted to roam outside in fields with fresh air, sun light, and natural food. They are forced to eat processed unnatural diets and given drugs and growth hormones. We consume this garbage and told it's healthy. Nothing is mentioned about what it's doing to our bodies. The same can be said about pharmacy products. You would think the human race could never exist without all the drugs and artificial vitamins. It's replacing the natural vitamins and minerals our bodies produce from fresh air and sunlight. For thousands of years our bodies developed a powerful immune system. Now we can't even give ourselves a chance to develop antibodies without being told we need all sorts of man-made chemicals. What is that doing to us? We are developing and growing into something that may lead to our downfall. Even farm fish are given unnatural food and drugs. Super bugs, drug resistant viruses and other things are invading our cells and brains. What will the future hold for our bodies and civilization?

Life and Death

I'm always amazed at our travel through time and space then exit our mortal body. According to science there are two stages of death; brain death and cellular death. For a short time after brain death our organs still live which means we can donate to others in need. No matter what, the cells will eventually break down and we are no more. Interestingly, even after burial the hair and nails continue to grow for some time. Cellular death I personaly experienced on living flesh. Turns out it was like a bio-electrical discharge. So - are we an electrical discharge wondering through space waiting for the right moment to materialize? Let me explain my experience:
While working on a fish farm I was helping to milk and extract the eggs from the salmon for the hatchery. These fish were very large and over 30 lbs (15kg). We would club them over the head to knock them out and proceed to collect organ samples for study and extract the eggs. We would hang them up to do the extraction. Sometimes the odd one would come to and give a nasty slap with their tail that could send a person into the water. We would also fillet the remainder of the fish for food. One time I laid my bare hand on the flesh of the dead fish, the cells were in the process of breaking down. These living cells felt like the plastic bubble insulation used in packing boxes and envelopes for mailing things. It felt like millions of bubbles bursting at once. According to science this bio-electrical discharge also controls our heart beat and funtion of our entire body.
In physiology we also study the bio-electrical aspect in living organisms. I think the study of life is fascinating and how everything is interconnected.

2010: My year to shine.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would achieve my greatest dream. Well, I have; all the pain, tears and rejection is now of little consequence. The more lonely for company and more depressed I was, the more I focused on myself and think about my goals. I dreamed it, slept it, drank it with my coffee. Whenever I was passed over for someone else in dating I thoght about my future goals. It became my mistress, my companion. And now... I did it! No one to thank but myself and I am feeling fantastic! I embrace 2010 with great anticipation. You my dear friends, you can do it too.

A new year for hope and thoughts for future genera

It's exciting to dream of centuries that is yet to come. The past century saw the invention and discovery of airplanes, automobiles, telephones, cure for certain diseases, submarines, spacecraft, walking on the moon, computers, T.V, and many other things. Our future offsprings will be walking on Mars, deep space exploration, searching for cures for more diseases, and things we can't even imagine. Yet, I give pause to what we really are. We still have primative attitudes toward humanity. Hate, killing, s*xual exploitation, and wars. It seems we are still unable to accept each other. An elder lady of a certain ancient tribe I visited once told me that mother nature needs to clense the earth 0f all destructive forces. Perhaps we need to clense ourselves in spirit and go forward with love, compassion and hope for a better future.

The way to love and being loved

Love cannot have a meaningful relationship unless we love ourselves first. We can learn about ourselves in a love relationship but love cannot be a substitute for personal identity. When respect and caring is missing the "love" part is really a dependency issue. Here are some specific ways to know the difference between love as a healthy relationsship with growth potential versus love as a form of addiction:
1. Does each lover have a secure belief in his/her own value?
2. Are the lovers improved by the relationship? By the response from others outside the relationship? Are they better, stronger, more attractive, more accomplished, or more sensitive individuals? Do they value the relationship for this very reason?
3. Do the lovers maintain serious interests outside the relationship, including other meaningful personal relationships?
4.Are the lovers beyond being possessive or jealous of each other's growth and expansion of interests?
5. Are the lovers also friends? Would you seek each other out if the love relationship ceased?
This is far from what everyone would like but it is something I use as a reference in connecting with others.

Importance of Kids

For years I've worked with kids and teens as a volunteer and previously as a therapist. It never ceases to amaze me how certain parents don't realize the emotional impact they have on their children. I'm not talking about single parents, but, both parents living together and some singles. Swearing at them and inappropriate behaviour make a bad role model for these kids to live up to. As a result, teens and kids grow up with no consideration for others or they have an empty spirit and insecure. Next time don't point a finger at the kids when they go bad but look at yourself. Were you a good role model? Were you there when they needed you? More importantly, did your kids have emotional support from you during their most vunerable stage of development? I'm a seragate parent to many teens and I feel sick about how we as adults treat these kids (s*xual abuse, physical violence and verbal abuse) when we are suppose to teach through our own behaviour. Well, enough of my bitching for today.
