If it seems too good to be true, it usually is!

Well, I've been a member here for 24 hours and already found a scammer. All I want to do is meet and make friends with REAL people. I don't want to be used, treated like a fool and taken for a ride.
Lucky for me all the b.s. he was spouting was traceable, I copy/pasted the entire statement and the results led to a site on the net that deals exclusively with exposing scammers and when I mentioned I should have been a detective he suddenly had to leave. I then checked here and lo and behold, his profile is deleted and there is no record of the 'exact' username.

Just be safe. Take your time screening people. I'm disgusted at the level these people will go to. Not only are they trying to obtain personal details and information but they are preying on the emotions of the unsuspecting individual that has an account here for sincere purposes. If the person in question is genuine, then they won't mind that you're overly cautious. Unfortunately in this day and age, it's far to easy to grab any photo off the net and claim it as you're own, it can even come from the likes of myspace, twitter and facebook. The site I found on the net even had over 1600 pictures to watch out for,e-mails, e-mail addresses and usernames.

I'm telling anyone who reads this now that I AM computer savvy. I may be naive by worldy experience but I screen and analize everything. If you are real, you have nothing to worry about but if not, beware. I won't be f####d around with. I guarantee it!

Cheers!

Hey Buffy.

Well I would have put it on a forum if I had access. You need to be a member for 7 days before you are allowed forum posting rights. Hence the blog.

Not being able to post on forums straight off has it's pros and cons for admin and account users.

Pros: No mass message posts by spammers, unless they create an idle account and wait 7 days. Most don't but there are exceptions.
Having looked after similar message boards through gaming I know how mad it can get and I know the only way to ban multiple imposter id's is only via ip address, not username. It's still a full time job though-albeit an unpaid one.

Cons: Real people who want to meet others can't partake in as much but hey, if they're real they're not going anywhere anyway (because they're here to meet others) and 7 days won't matter. I made a blog because I wanted to post about my experience. I was irritated enough to do it...and the blog was the next best thing. It still gets the message out right?
