The joys of the single life..

So you’re single and you are unhappy. Everywhere around you people seem to be attached and madly in love. You start to think, ‘Am I the only person who isn’t in a relationship?’ It can be depressing and upsetting.



But I would like to tell you a something. Many people who are in a relationship have secret thoughts about some of the good times that they had when they were single. That’s not to say that they aren’t happy now – just that there are some things about being single that are fabulous. There are things that you really miss when you are in a relationship.



For example, you don’t have to run everything by your partner first. The only opinion that matters in decision-making is yours. If you want something to be a certain way, it can be. Sometimes we also miss evenings to ourselves – relaxing in front of TV and eating pizza without having to explain or excuse yourself.



We miss the excitement and nervousness of a first date. We miss the thrill of the chase. We miss flirting outrageously and guilt-free.



I love being in a relationship, so I am not suggesting that being single is better (although many people, I am sure, would say that). And I know that being single for a long time can be frustrating – I have been there. But being single is not all bad. And in fact can be great. Singledom is a temporary state on your road to a fulfilling relationship. Because as much as you might not believe it now, you WILL fall in love and you WILL be in a happy relationship. So enjoy the ride. Enjoy it for those of us who can’t. It might be your last ride on the singles train.
